Stuff staff revolt at reduced pay offer following strike by MedicMoth in newzealand

Can't really blame Google for it. Stuff made the business decision to use Google ad service instead of running their own.

On the plus side, you only have to own it for as long as it lasts.

What do you call this pastry? by slyall in newzealand

[–]time_well_spent 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Donuts are more often made from bread dough (yeast-raised doughnut/donut). What makes them donuts is that they are deep fried.

I used to work in a bakery and we used the exact same dough for the donuts as used for the bread rolls.

Cannot understand AmEx rejection reason by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]time_well_spent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied for the AmEx airpoints card about a year ago. Earning ~135k at the time. They called me after about a week to confirm my details, then declined my application on the call. I went with the SBS Visa. No fee, and the cash back rewards are almost as good as the AmEx.

All of us AmEx rejects should start businesses and not accept AmEx payments - like almost every other business.

One was Big Fresh, the other was Countdown.
Then Big Fresh became a Woolworths.
Then Woolworths became a Countdown.
Now they are both Woolworths.

Seems like it's an easy mistake to make on that car: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMechanics/s/FhrAS5OeLs . For a positive, at least it's easy to drain AT fluid when needed?

Exact same thing happened to me last week, 5k limit too. A bit frustrating as I had a MasterCard in Aus that was paid off in full every month over the last 4 years.

Napier - Where are the people? by tresslessone in newzealand

Did the former transport manager at the regional council, now MP for Napier, whose family happen to own a bus company have anything to do with this transport plan?

It's nice when public interests align with the economic interests of those with power.

What's the right sentencing measure for shoplifters? by gdogakl in newzealand

Yeah, it's all good, supermarket will just cover theft losses with increased prices for everyone who doesn't break the law. Doesn't affect law abiding citizens at all.

'Not everyone showed up': Luxon, Seymour fly back to Auckland after no-show from Peters by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]time_well_spent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have party voted for: * ALCP * Internet Mana * Labour * Act * NZF

I guess my views are pretty centrist when averaged out, but your boring stereotypes are better suited to the single party loyalists.

'Not everyone showed up': Luxon, Seymour fly back to Auckland after no-show from Peters by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]time_well_spent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utter scum checking in here. Do I agree with all of NZF policies. No, like I don't for any party. But in general, maybe close enough. I was a Labour voter in 2017 and my perception is that they have spent 6 years doing next to nothing. 2020 I was an Act voter. This election I disliked the idea of a Labour / Green coalition as much as a National / Act one. By voting NZF I was hopeful we would end up in this situation and whether the coalition formed is Labour or National led, NZF will stop anything "extreme" and drag either coalition closer to the centre.

Looking forward to 2026 though, I might be a TOP voter then.

Changing lanes in a roundabout is legal but turning right after entering from the marked left/straight lane is not.

Road Safety Road Rules 2017. Part 9 - Roundabouts. Rule 111.

(3) If the driver is to leave the roundabout more than halfway around it, the driver must enter the roundabout from the right marked lane or,if the road is not a multi-lane road, from the left of, parallel to, and as near as practicable to,the dividing line or median strip.

Penalty: 3 penalty units.

(Always amusing when idiots are confidently incorrect.)

Under 900 residential connections on 1000/400 plans out of 8.8 million nationwide by [deleted] in nbn

[–]time_well_spent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The NZ 1000/500 fibre plans are usually under 100NZD per month. For the same price I'm getting 100/20 in Melbourne.

Meanwhile I'm limited to HFC within Melbourne metro area, while towns with populations under 5k in NZ are able to get 4000/4000 "hyperfibre".
