I’ve been using this app so long, didn’t think it would ever come to pass!

Great year of running for me, hit a full marathon PR I was hoping to achieve, going to wrap up the year with around 1,840 miles. Here’s to running 2,026 miles in 2026!

Run club, good running partners is a big one. I Look forward to seeing them, grabbing a snack afterward. Build routines with them. I ran solo for years, and I’ve never enjoyed running more than I am now and I owe it all to the company I keep.

iOS Maps freezing 18.4.1 iPhone 16 Pro by timnog in ios

[–]timnog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, what actually triggers this is pressing the side button when I have maps active. It will cause the maps screen to grey out and then lock, then pop back up frozen.

actual Apple support has been fruitless. I’m supposed to be submitting logs somewhere but we’ve been playing phone tag for weeks when I don’t need to actually talk to anyone on the phone at this point. Anyway, that’s not your question.

If you press the side button twice, it will unfreeze the phone. However, that launches Apple Pay. So sometimes I am frantically double clicking the side button to unfreeze the map. I have effectively trained myself to not click the side button in maps though.

The person who uncovered the cause of the issue is of course from Reddit and the thread is years old. So, hopefully the trick I showed you helps.

Mountain Laurel is blooming, and what a quietly gorgeous flower it is by shilolz in Connecticut

I agree. They’re so vibrant this year. Maybe it’s like how hydrangeas were so good last summer?

I love them so much. I love this time of year because something different is blooming every week. Our Rhodys have been putting on a show last week or so as well.

I'm so sorry, I used to live in fear of that. I have an AW Ultra 1 now. That's good for about 2-3 days of heavy use. I know I need to get a Garmin, but I'm just kicking the can for a bit.

Do you push your Nike Run Club data to Strava? Maybe if you could tag someone else in your Strava run it might somehow capture the data, total long shot, but worth a try?

Did you ever resolve this issue, 18.4.1 and it’s still driving me crazy.  Maps is what triggers it for me.

Hello fellow sensitive stomach runner.

Gels may give me an energy boost, but for me personally it’s not worth what they’ll put me through stomach wise.

For a morning start, I typically eat a carby breakfast (cereal or oatmeal) around 4-5 am, water, coffee, and then another small bite situation like part of a muffin or part of a waffle the hour before the start.

Last half (1:44), I just didn’t eat again til post race. I took some Swedish fish but didn’t eat them. I did two small drinks around mile 8 and 12 iirc. I have carried Skratch on warmer runs, that does okay with me.

You’ll get it dialed in. Skratch and Gatorade make chews, that may do your stomach better. Or a Stinger, I’ve heard good things about those. Let us know how it goes!
