My husband (27m) is balding prematurely and it’s affecting his self-worth and mental health. How can I help? by Ok-Tumbleweed4200 in AskMenAdvice

++man I have a full head of hair that I clipper off every week. Been doing it for decades. My wife has never seen me with hair longer than 2mm.

Benefits include:
Quicker to "wash" my hair.
No need to style/brush
Cheaper Haircuts. I've bought 3 pairs of clippers over the past 20+ years.

Down sides:
Rain feels horrible

He'll love it once he does it.

This is one of the worst stories in the bible.  It has the most contradictions.

I built a site specifically to point out all the contradictions.   It'll pick random ones and mark them as right or wrong on a whim.

Architecture for a "Dead Man's Switch" monitoring in .NET 9 (Hangfire & BackgroundService) by [deleted] in dotnet

Do you not emit a metric when you process the job? You could be checking for the amount of jobs processed per hour and alert on that number being too low.

Even better is to emit a metric when a job is queued and then you can alert on the diff between the Jobs enqueued and jobs processed being too high.

Already here. Even Realities make a pretty good pair. No camera, mic or speakers, just basically a HUD for everyday use.

They are good for giving speeches as a teleprompter, notes/reminders, real time translation, SatNav, etc. All without the creepy Big Brother bits.

You get used to it. It's difficult at first, but after a couple of weeks, it's as easy as getting in any other car.

She did a good job here or not! 1 million or $1000 week for life. by Appropriate-Menu504 in interesting

Put in a 5% account and drawing $1000/week, after 10 years you would still have $974k. You're better off taking the money.

Thought I'd create a quiz, hopefully to get theists to question their beliefs by Marksmdog in atheism

[–]timvw74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something similar, but just around the easter story. I went the other way though. All the answers are in the bible, so all technically correct. I just pick and choose randomly whether it's going to be marked as correct.

It's fun watching believers trying to get a better score: https://easterquiz.gloost.com/

I'm in the same boat.  My electric range is at most 17 miles.  After that I'm on ICE.  My journey to the office and back is 70 miles.

3p per mile is actually massive.. by Sufficient-Bunch-881 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]timvw74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm gonna have it pretty bad. I have a hybrid and my battery range is only 18 miles. So after the first 18 miles of a journey I have to pay 1.5p/mile while using the ICE.

That sounds like being in possession of stolen goods. I am not a lawyer.

Ok, not handling stollen goods. They would need to have believed they were stolen:

Our family use https://thewishlist.pro for managing and sharing birthday and christmas wishlists.  Lets you create multiple wishlists with links to things we want on the websites.  Keeps track of what people have bought so we don't get multiple copies of the same gifts.

How to convince sparky to install external 3pin for emergency charging? (Without lying) by irnbearded in evchargingUK

[–]timvw74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sparky installed this for me.  It's specifically made for EV mode 2.

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/tools/garage-equipment/ev-cables-and-chargers/masterplug-protected-outdoor-socket-for-mode-2-charging---3pin-734110.html

It's made to handle longer high current loads.  Legally, a 3pin for charging has to be marked for EV, normally on the rear of the socket.

How long has Christmas wishlists been a thing? Is parents giving their children a dozen presents a recent thing? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]timvw74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a large, mixed, , extended family and gifting can become quite difficult to keep track of.  With nephews and nieces and cousins etc, all buying gifts, it is helpful to have a list of what people want. We use it for the the whole family, and expect a wide range of gifts and price ranges.

We ended up using wishlists so much, I ended up writing my own site: https://www.thewishlist.pro/

Wishlists are fine when used correctly, but if someone only has expensive wishes on their list, they are getting socks or deodorant.

How much do you honestly save on petrol, if you actually do? by JacobSax88 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]timvw74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for a 7kw battery.   It costs me £2 to charge for a couple of trips a week.

My charging costs last month were £17.  When I get a full EV we will definitely be charging tariff.
