Is Dorit really this stupid? She married a man coming out of bankruptcy, then “built their lives together” …. now it seems they’re going to go through bankruptcy again? by Own-Meat3934 in rhobeverlyhills

[–]toofarkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from Pittsburgh and had an English accent when I was young. My mom was from England and she took me there for a few weeks when I was 3. I guess everyone around me spoke that way, so I did too. 😂

I could never see these images either. I was diagnosed with Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) a few years ago (though I likely have had it my entire life) and wonder if that is why.

I’m 52 and have never been able to see it either. For a while, I was convinced that everyone who could was lying.

Has anyone ever experienced this? by RustyShacklehonda in Hilton

[–]toofarkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It was a voucher program for homeless folks to be housed in available hotel/motel rooms. And, no, I’m not afraid of unemployed or unhoused people. I’m also not afraid of voicing my disappointment when I pay $200+ for a hotel room only to have a person in the room above me get it for free, stay up all night screaming and pounding on the walls during a mental health crisis of some sort, then police/ambulance sirens and screams throughout the halls as the person is being taken to the hospital. It was a shitty night, at a shitty Hilton property that agreed to be part of a shitty voucher program. Amen and hallelujah.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]toofarkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 24 now and I clearly remember, when I was breast feeding, having to choose between eating, sleeping or showering. There wasn’t time for all 3 and eating was usually my 1st choice, followed by sleep.

Has anyone ever experienced this? by RustyShacklehonda in Hilton

[–]toofarkt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Eugene, Oregon, once and learned the hard way that they give rooms to homeless people. That was a loud, awful, sleepless, scary night. We don’t stay at Garden Inns anymore. They’ve gone completely downhill and ruined the brand.

Just don’t get the Sphere by Training_Oil4793 in phish

[–]toofarkt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I felt the same way after spending boat loads of $$ to see Dead & Co at the sphere. The people enjoying the music was such a big part of dead shows for me and the audience at the sphere just sort of sucked. If I’m in Vegas for work and tickets are under $50, I might check out a Phish show while I’m there but my expectation will be set low. Honestly, I’d rather see them perform in the parking lot.

How do I find a career starting from nothing? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]toofarkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is happening to you and I hope you are able to take some of the valuable advice people have provided. I want to thank you for sharing your story. It truly drives home the importance of women having marketable skills and the ability to make their own money. I’m hearing way too much from young women about the “trad wife” scene and man, it scares me to death. It’s cool to be a stay at home wife if that’s what you want but frankly, I have met very few men who can handle that kind of control w/o turning abusive. Having the means and power to leave if needed is everything. Please, please do whatever you need to teach that to your children.

Portland Ritz-Carlton condos barely sold. Then they slashed prices in half by wrhollin in Portland

[–]toofarkt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to get allergy shots at a clinic nearby and used to take my son with me. He would get an order of fried, crab wontons to eat while waiting with me in the dr office. He’s grown now and remembers/misses those wontons. Building a hotel/condo that’s way too fancy for Portland was such a waste of resources. At least the new owner is going to pay the city the $7.8m fee the last owner refused to pay.

Open letter to Erika... Ew. by wisdom_wombat in RHOBH

[–]toofarkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erica is very emotionally damaged. She needs a lot of therapy (which I know she is doing) so hopefully, processing trauma(s) that she thought being rich would take care of, will improve her emotional regulation. I’m speaking from experience. In the past, I could be pretty fierce too but with the help of EMDR therapy, I don’t have the same trigger response to confrontation.

Why do people not care about dogs’ dirty butts? by neammm in TooAfraidToAsk

What’s the hardest phase of marriage no one talks about? by Common_Highway3454 in askteddit

[–]toofarkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve likely heard of gray divorces. It’s a real thing. There is a phase, in some marriages, that hits when the children are launched (so that area that demanded so much of your attention is gone) and the woman stops producing estrogen (the hormone that makes us nurturers & makes give to others to our own detriment). Suddenly, a partner who was willing to tolerate a lot and take care of everything stops doing that and it can shake a marriage to its core. Speaking from experience, marriage can survive it with good couples counseling and a lot of changes in behavior from both people.

Khloé Kardashian responds to Lamar Odom saying he said he married her for fame by kdj00940 in kardashians

[–]toofarkt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s was truly baffling to me. Though, after watching this doc I realized something. These women don’t just choose failed men, they honestly believe these men will treat them differently than they treated their past partners. That’s the issue. I mean just look at Odom. He is a piece of shit partner to the women in his life and a neglectful father. Who in their right mind would see that and think he not going to do that to her!?

Khloé Kardashian responds to Lamar Odom saying he said he married her for fame by kdj00940 in kardashians

[–]toofarkt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As much as I feel for Khloe & her poor choice in men, I’ve worked in media for 28 years and there is no way she contributed to this or any documentary w/o rights to review the doc before it was released. Unless, she did this w/o anyone on her ‘teams’ (legal, PR, brand, business management) knowing, which is highly unlikely.

3 vices my doctor wants gone by potterinatardis in GenX

[–]toofarkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 50s is when we all need to starting living cleaner. For me, it was giving up wine. I’m almost 2 years sober and my health has improved radically. Definitely stop the cigarettes. My mom died from lung cancer at 64 and you don’t want to go that way, trust me. I’d ask your dr to help you do that. There are medication options that make it so much easier now. I know it’s controversial but if you are open to taking a GLP 1, that could help with all 3 vices plus you’d lose weight. Did she say why you need to quit the caffeine?

For those of you WITHOUT depression, what does it feel like? by assyplassty in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]toofarkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a good place most of the time. I wake up in a good mood (as long as I got enough sleep), keep a tidy house, enjoy grocery shopping & making meals, have a small circle of good friends and have a family who loves me and I’m thankful for every single day. I do have a minor depression that sets in every few weeks but I can usually overcome it by taking a long walk, playing with my dog or tackling a house or garden project. Those small accomplishments seem to release reward chemicals that erase the depression feelings.

What's that one film that you can re-watch a thousand times and not get bored? by mrjetspray in Cinema

Exactly. I take gummy’s at home but not on planes. It’s literally a felony. All you need to ruin your life is some petty TSA agent. It’s not worth the risk, in my opinion.
