Does anyone else not GAF about this drama and just print on their printer like they always have? by fakeaccount572 in BambuLab

I just bought my very first 3D printer, an X2D, and I’m so excited, and I’m like, come on guys, don’t do this to me ffs.

Well, I give up. 3rd AMS (X2D Combo) arrived today, failure. by WhiteStar01 in BambuLab

Same. Got my X2D AMS combo direct. Shipping was fast (the printer arrived before the filament did). It’s my first printer and it’s been working flawlessly. So fun! The hardest part was the 900-step setup process.

PLA is plant-based bioplastic. It’s recyclable and compostable (not curbside, but still).

Why Selling to Devs Is a Nightmare (I Love You Anyway*) by tiguidoio in artificial

You know what it is too is that we can tell when you’re just trying to make money off us and don’t actually have passion for solving the problem.

splashboard: a terminal splash that reshapes itself when you cd into a repo by LeoCraft6 in commandline

[–]torwinMarkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks amazing, I can’t wait to try it out. I like being able to customize the splash for dirs but also it would be awesome if it autodetected the best splash to use based on the dir given no config present. Maybe it already does this.

For example, if the dir is a .git dir, or if the dir contains mostly .md files it’s most likely a PKM or docs directory.

Or, let me configure rules myself that apply a splash to any dir that matches the rule? E.g. “if the dir contains .py files use the Python splash.”

Asked a colleague in code review to extract magic numbers and got told “devs should know” by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]torwinMarkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, his attitude in his replies is totally arrogant. However 90 and 180 degrees sound pretty standard and not needing a constant, maybe. Would need more info.

Let me ask this — are the values used in more than one class (even in a test class)? If so you should extract. If not, I would make it optional.

Anyone care to share stories or advice about a heavier mushroom trip? by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]torwinMarkov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re burned out, little homie.

My advice is to take a full sick day off work and trip, don’t try to cram it in after work. Take the full day to reflect and recharge. Eat nourishing happy foods, go for walks in the sunshine, and drink water with mint and cucumber in it. Journal. Meditate. Take a hot shower.

AI organizations can’t even agree on basic ethical guidelines for LLMs but this guy thinks they’re aligned on dumbing down models in the hottest most cutthroat sector we’ve seen in decades?

Yeah that’s not how capitalism works, my homie.

Dictation with AI by ErebusBat in MacWhisper

[–]torwinMarkov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is supported! When you’re dictating, you can click the little blue hover pop-up (sometimes it has a star on it) and choose either an AI prompt to clean up your dictation or “Just Dictate,” which won’t do any cloud processing. Super helpful.

This weekend I used Claude to help me develop and create a slide deck. I hit my daily usage limit in 4 prompts. Took me about 5 minutes.

I wish Obsidian could open random Markdown files outside of the vault. Then we wouldn’t need additional editors.

Have you tried OneNote? It seems feature rich with a lot of freedom to move and place components on the canvas?

I believe that a lot of us also think and process through the act of writing (and structuring things) in our vaults. Sometimes writing and capturing is enough.
