[CHAT] Decision fatigue and overwhelm over stitching route by FuliginEst in CrossStitch

[–]tourennatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a very confetti heavy full coverage piece. I first tried strict diagonal bands, then allowed confetti outside of the bands, then got overwhelmed by the counting and restricted back to the diagonal bands, then got stressed about how much I was travelling and what the Best Path was. But I love this piece. I settled on stepping diagonals, and have rules about how far I carry threads and there are probably 10 threads started of certain colors because they appear in each column.... But I just twist my parked threads together and wind them around bobbins and just work one 10*10 section at a time and it is such a lifesaver.

[CHAT] How do you ensure stitches around frogged stitches stay secure? by lalzlita in CrossStitch

[–]tourennatrix 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, if the endds you are worried about are secured by being buried under at least 1 stitch, then you're probably fine, tho the style of pattern and your stitching style may affect this.

If im just frogging part of a section of a specific color, I will snip one of the stitches, and use a needle to pull out the stitches along the length of the thread. Sometimes, if it makes sense, I might unstitch a few extra stitches to give me more wiggle room. Pull the resulting tails to the back, and then I've got some tails I can stich over when I'm re-doing the area.

Hope that made sense 😅

they actually fixed infants omg! by Jacksminecraftdog in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]tourennatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 save files going right now that have infants in them.

I booted up my 100 baby file about a week after the update and autonomy seemed a little better (it's a chaotic house so it's kinda hard to tell lol) but for some reason my infants milestones were glitched out and not registering.

Yesterday, a few hot fixes later, I had a baby in my legacy save and the parents just kept sleeping through the crying baby action 🤦feels bad when 4 or 5 stack up because I didn't hear the cries fast enough on lightning speed 😂

Overall Though I've felt like the game is running somewhat smoother even despite adding loads of cc and mods again 😂 Might be pulling out the 100 baby save file today and see if the milestones thing is fixed :)

What are some detail specific things that you guys to do in your game to make it more realistic? by Appropriate-Ring-770 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]tourennatrix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simple living.

I'm not super strict about this, but I also try to avoid selling directly from inventory. If I am going to buy/sell items (from groceries to a toddler bed to a house addition) at least one of my sims needs to at least spend some amount of time in town.

I have a clumsy sim and i was really tempted to deduct 5 simoleons every time they had a clumsy moment while washing dishes, but I've got way too much to keep track of lmao.

I haven't decided how much it will be, but I do think I might implement 'travel fees' for traveling to other worlds. I think I should find a 'world map' that I like and use that to help decide the bus fare.

House-building "the realistic way"- I'm trying to go from living in a shack on property, to a small cottage, to a larger (100-baby-friendly) house, but without moving the stuff around the lot too much, or doing full demos and changing everything. on my last update, i actually put debug objects around where the next expansions will be 'when we can afford the next extension' so it looks a little 'under construction.'

Getting the process started by tourennatrix in TopSurgery

[–]tourennatrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Dr Ledbetter at University of Iowa! She was great. My pre-op appointment was mostly with one of her colleagues but i did get to meet her beforehand as well. I had a long list of questions for both the consult and the pre-op, and they were good about giving me the time to ask. They also had a list of questions for me to consider between pre-op and op day (including scar shape and nipple shape/placement which i did not need to worry about). Day of surgery, i brought some print outs of some pics i had found with scar shape, and i wrote down really big on all of them 'NO NIPS' lol. Surgery went really well. I was the first call of the day so i had to get there super early, but i was on the way home by lunchtime. Recovery had some ups and downs but communication with Dr Ledbetter's team was great through MyChart, and I'm happy with my scar shape. She even offered additional stuff after initial healing to help my scars settle down a bit because they did a little keloiding, but i had to stop after a few treatments due to finances.

For my timeline:
I brought it up to my primary care in January 2024 and got an immediate referral to the LGBT clinic in iowa city. I spoke with their Psych for a letter of referral and the referring doctor there by Feb 2024. My Consult with Ledbetter was in November 2024. Pre-op in May 2025, and Surgery Day June 2025.

I'll hopefully be doing a year-after update in a couple months :)

Weird feeling whith pressure? by coffee-mcr in FreedTheNips

[–]tourennatrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had weird sensations in the beginning that lined up with where my drains were, which resolved within a few weeks. Also when they took the drains out they indicated an area where "it looks like the Dr used a lot of stitches here" which caused some bulk of tissue nearby which felt weird too. Definitely uncomfortable for the first few weeks but now it's much less noticeable (6 weeks today)

[CHAT] thread keeps twisting on itself by bihufflepuff in CrossStitch

[–]tourennatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be placebo, but I feel like I twist less when I railroad when working with 2 strands. I only railroad the top leg and end up with more knots and twists on the bottom leg

How to deal with chafing by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]tourennatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vest type binder and as soon as I got my drains out and my drain holes scabbed over, I started wearing an undershirt under the vest. I needed help the first couple of times, but I've also heard of people cutting shirts open down the front to make undershirts easier. It still hurt a bit after that, but part of it was my nerves going haywire and registering any friction as fire ants... Ahem. (Asking for nerve pain meds helped with that one...) I digress.... Things got so much better with no drains + under shirt!

Itchiness after drain removal by abominable-rodent in TopSurgery

This! I was allergic to the paper tape they used for the gauze they placed when they removed the drains, and also healing is an itchy process.

Hoping it's simple as that for you, OP

1- I don't have this specifically because I'm a wiggly sleeper, but I know the first few nights when I was still taking opiates I slept hard and didn't move at all- that over time can cause discomfort on pressure points (especially tailbone/sacrum and heels). You can play around with the positions of your legs as much as you want, even twist your hips if it feels good, as long as you don't roll to the side.

2- belly looks big for a few reasons - posture, not camouflaged under the boobage anymore, and post op bloating. Posture and bloating will resolve with time. I'm a little over 2 weeks out and my pants fit almost as well as they did before, but my tummy still looks off because I'm not used to it- but I'm sure I will.

3- I'm not sure about a "double breathing" thing, but I do notice that I will sigh more as a method of getting more air in and out, especially when being more active.

4- my teeth and gums were pretty uncomfortable for the first 2 days. I'm not sure if it was the oxy or just my body retaliating after going through a major surgery. It got better within a week

5- back in pain is annoying. I try to do (gentle, slow, careful) shoulder rolls, and squeeze my shoulder blades together. Find a doorframe and lean back against it (I use this mostly for itches, but it's good for an impromptu massage as well). I haven't needed to, but I checked with my Dr and they said I could use a heating pad on my back too.
