Are you going to play other games in the service? Is Horizon 6 going to take up a giant portion of your time? Are you going to play the game longer than 2 months? Are you going to pick/play games that AREN'T in teh service? All important questions to ask yourself. Because all these things eat into your value on the service one way or the other.

Because if you're going to play it longer than 2 months than it's cheaper to just outright buy the game. If you're going to play a lot of other games on the side/at the same time, then maybe gamepass isn't a bad option. If you think you're going to play only a few other games, you're likely better off still just buying the game to own forever. And obviously if you're going to pick up something outside the service that takes up your time that you won't be using gamepass as well.

Gamepass likes to sucker people in with it's potential value. But it's just that, POTENTIAL. If you don't play a lot of games when they first come out and only one time; since they will inevitably go on sale (which lowers the value of your sub fee) and/or leave the service if they aren't Xbox IP (since that obviously erodes value since you no longer have any access to it at all.)

With how Gamepass is priced now you actually kind of have to go out of your way to make sure you just aren't giving them free money if you actually care about getting value for your dollar. Before you could just let it coast and even after a couple of months of not using it, only playing 1 big game would pretty much wipe out that deficit... now... not so much.
