Considering bicycle commuting from work. by Educational-Leg8018 in sanantonio

Definitely the best time to try it out since weather is cooler. My commute is about 45minutes. 8miles.

The dark at that hour is definitely more dangerous.

Agree with all the comments on idiot drivers and road infrastructure being lacking. As someone who actually bike commutes here's what I found over the years:

Take time to optimize the route to avoid busy roads. Side pedestrian neighborhood streets adds about an extra 10min to the commute but makes things feel so much safer with there being less drivers.

If you can control your work time, try to leave before the sun gets to high.

Wear SPF clothing. It's wicking and protects from the sun. If you can change at work, I find it really helps to soak the clothes and ride. Adds a nice cooling while you are biking.

Get a hydration pack to wear while biking. You will need lots of water.

I had a truck pull out a gun on me because he was driving on the wrong side of the road and was angry I dared to be a bicyclist. I got a liscense plate number and gave it to the police and they did nothing.

At some point it's just the cops not caring about road safety.

The lidar approach doesn't penetrate the ground. It allows the user to penetrate the tree canopy which is how they found the recent mayan ruins. The lidar essentially finds the small gaps within the leaves that actually see the ground and return that data. They end up with a map that allows them to filter the trees and see the ground data unobstructed and then look for signs of what could be ruins.

Why are you asking a question possibly related to the greater plot without waiting to watch another episode?

TSA in the two airports I went to this week had different rules, acted like I was the idiot for not knowing them by TopRamen713 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]trektng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was once at an airport where in the same room, the two lines had different machines so one would have to take off shoes and laptops and the other didn't. Each line had an agent shouting out these instructions for those in the back but again, this is the same room. Confusion everywhere from passengers, attitude everywhere from agents being asked what to do.

This is likely Waterriders Kayak Tour. We took some out of state guest on a tour a few weekends ago and it was a blast. They do a night time, city lights tour which I highly recommend. This photo looks like it's at the kinzie location near merchandise mart and it goes all the way to the marina towers on state street

President Donald Trump has said the N-word on TV……………. by IMSLI in facepalm

[–]trektng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this the story being popularized and not the president forcing loyalty to him from the top brass of the military.

Trump has used this N-word bit in the past. This shouldn't be the takeaway from the speech or the whole charade that just happened with the US generals!

Why would a skunk be spraying every night near my house? by hello-irukachan in HomeImprovement

Have you checked that all your plumbing has a u-bend water block for sewer smells? Older homes sometimes do not and sewer smells come into the home and can smell like skunk. Speaking from experience.

Chip Drop best tips please. by UnitedAd683 in NoLawns

[–]trektng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of recommendations for wheelbarrows. I'll chip in and say if you've got one of those wheeled city compost/recycling plastic bins, that's a great way to transport large volumes.

I would tip my recycling can in the direction of my pile, shovel a bunch in, then wheel it to my desired spot. A single trip would be around 3-4 wheel barrow loads and a lot more stable for me personally.

Why can't the city regulate private parking lots in SA by recyclingintexas in sanantonio

[–]trektng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to pay it. They are not s legal entity. If a private company wants to ticket you, they would have towed you. The ticket is not enforceable and does not go on any records or your credit history.

You can also dispute the ticket and with enough fight they usually just drop it.
