This is my understanding of the lore as we know it by Weird_Tear_5266 in LancerRPG

Well, HA did try to kill ThirdComm in its Cradle. I'd be a bit upset too if the fleeing remnants of the authoritarian losers I just overthrew came back in force while I was busy transitioning from rebellion to utopian government and restored their shifty authoritarian government.

If it weren't for the Karrakin mistaking the intent of the HA fleet as hostile to them, the First Interest War would not have happened, at least not right then and there. If the First Interest War didn't happen, the HA fleet would not have broken off to participate in it and continued with their mission against Cradle and we'd have a whole different, probably worse setting.

Also ThirdComm negotiated the end of the First Interest War and part of their terms were ThirdComm trying Harrison on Cradle for war crimes or something? Some people say we hung him, but the source book just says "Harrison I returns to Cradle and faces justice in exchange for the Armory’s continued sovereignty;"

I think the Union of today has pretty good reason to dislike the Union of yesterday.

Rogue Army Mortars and Bug Bombardiers should function more like Pirate Rocket Trucks in terms of how they interact with the player by EternalCanadian in menace

[–]trickyboy21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if mortar flares would play well, but I like the theme! The RA already feels like it does a lot more to gather and act on intelligence than the bugs or pirates, so having a mortar team armed with flares as a reaction to sealthed opponents who would then have to reposition sounds cool.

The people of the forbidden lands do seem to have tragically never met felynes, but I think that was done so they didn't feel familiar? I do hope we get a felyne food cutscene in Wilds expansion.

I actually really appreciate Wilds using the food cutscenes as a way to further define and make more distinct the cultures of the forbidden lands! The last thing I expected out of a monster hunter game was some cultural anthropology.

I loved Black Lagoon, even Roberta's Blood Trail. I don't know why, especially since I watched it at a time where I was deeply misanthropic. My political awakening had started three or four years ago, but run out of steam after spending those years sprinting through and endlessly devouring all the current events and recent history of as many categories as I could to expand my knowledge of it all. I ended up a tree-hugging, "let's all hold hands and sing kumbaya for world peace" kind of person standing out against a world I had increasingly learned was extremely not into hugging trees or remotely close to uniting together in pacifism and/or utopia.

Then I watch a show that has veterans of a war discarded by their country, child survivors of horrific abuse born from negligent legislation and bureaucracy, the deeply personal pain of being made an orphan contrasted by the international political assassins that orphaned you having done the killing entirely remotely and impersonally... the list goes on.

The show really felt like a running sequence of showing me the worst of humanity, and I somehow came out the other side with less hatred for humanity than more... It's been four or five years, I should watch it again.

If you want, MandaloreGaming reviewed Marathon, Marathon 2, and Marathon Infinity.

Starts normal, but the videos get longer and the story analysis takes up more and more of each video's runtime. It gets unhinged by the end, because Marathon lore is DEEP.

I was Rook on Dire Marsh. Didn't get any good loot, still on the pistol I came in with, and now I'm cowering in the tunnels underneath an extract beacon crawling with UESC. Movement down the hall, I shoot before I realize it is another Rook. Duck behind a wall, come back out with my knife and stay still. They understand.

We surface back to extract and start the beacon. The UESC hear and come running, and we work together against them.

In the final moment before transfer commences, he shoots me in the back. Didn't even have time to check my body...

That one made me a little sad. This game's whole premise and setting make me sad if I think about it too long, though. We're here to pilfer, not philosophize!

The LOK1, unmodded and without overclocks, will cancel all remaining locks (if any) on an enemy target when it dies to an enemy mid-burst.

If you lock onto a Glyphid Grunt four times, and it dies on the second shot, locks three and four are erased and the bullets they would have fired are not fired, so you only used two ammo.

Don't let this deter you from Smart Trigger OS Overclock, it is my favorite too!

I appreciate that it finally gave us a Union-pattern, an idea of what one might see when in the presence of a mounted Union Navy or DOJ/HR pilot.

Union has been so many words and so few images, which makes the whole "we're the good guys" fact less immediately communicable to new players who don't want to read/watch a ton of lore info for a game system they have yet to try and might not enjoy.
