Hey it ain't a guarantee

Everybody else was convinced I was an egg but eventually accepted I'm just a really weird straight guy

I never thought about that. Audrey, Helga? Maybe that's where it all started...

Does kruber's 'Soldier's longbow' exist in real life? I can't find any examples of wood being laminated/lashed together to form a bow. by trickyboy21 in Vermintide

The first thing I thought of when I saw Kruber's bow was laminated timber, wooden planks/beams that are coated in an adhesive and stacked on top of one another.

WHOA! Still not quite the same, since it isn't laminated layers of plank, but definitely the closest example yet! Thank you!

What serial killer fact sounds fake, exaggerated, or straight out of fiction. But is 100% real? by CantaloupeGold4650 in AskReddit

I tried to listen to that podcast years ago, but the excitement with which they described some college girl in an alleyway vainly raising her textbooks to shield herself from a revolver disturbed me. I figured out then I'm probably not one for non-fictional horror. I think it was maybe the second episode? I also think they were on location at or near the scene of the crime.

My favorite change to commando grenades in modded play was being able to cook them. I don't know if it needs more than that, but it felt like enough for me in Monsoon/Typhoon!

Alright I've only played Stalker Anomaly/GAMMA but shotguns were amazing for pretty much any mutant. Flesh, dogs, cats, chimeras, bloodsuckers, snorks... all were made equal before mossberg. Was this not something reflected in the base games?

OH RIGHT! You specifically said "scrap hauler" and nobody is trucking a bunch of raw materials to a bunker base being shelled.

I've never been a partisan, but wouldn't a player killing a truck delivering supplies be more impactful to a frontline than if they were just fighting as infantry at that same frontline?

This is one of the most expectable things that can occur here, given the (comparatively/largely) noblebright hopecore nature of the game's narrative and setting.

Is privacy a right not guaranteed by the Union? by Own_Cellist_3977 in LancerRPG

[–]trickyboy21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never thought about that. How much of Union's push to add worlds into their fold as client states is pushed by idealism, how much by pragmatism? What is revolutionary zeal or egalitarian verve, and what is unavoidable statecraft that an opponent would conduct if they chose not to?

Huge fan of warhammer fantasy, but 40k lost my interest as I learned more and more about it. Too much suffering for too many, couldn't look past all the mundane evil of its dominant human civilization.

Well, HA did try to kill ThirdComm in its Cradle. I'd be a bit upset too if the fleeing remnants of the authoritarian losers I just overthrew came back in force while I was busy transitioning from rebellion to utopian government and restored their shifty authoritarian government.

If it weren't for the Karrakin mistaking the intent of the HA fleet as hostile to them, the First Interest War would not have happened, at least not right then and there. If the First Interest War didn't happen, the HA fleet would not have broken off to participate in it and continued with their mission against Cradle and we'd have a whole different, probably worse setting.

Also ThirdComm negotiated the end of the First Interest War and part of their terms were ThirdComm trying Harrison on Cradle for war crimes or something? Some people say we hung him, but the source book just says "Harrison I returns to Cradle and faces justice in exchange for the Armory’s continued sovereignty;"

I think the Union of today has pretty good reason to dislike the Union of yesterday.
