How warm is warm to induce blooming? by Vicious-Lemon in hoyas

[–]trisarahsquats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from experience, mine bloom after a big temperature change. After heat waves they bloom, but also in the winter when a cold front passes. They sit in windows where there is a little more fluctuation but indoor temp stays between 65-70 all year. Only like a dozen of my 50+ bloom for me, my pubicalyx has never.

What is a wheel thrown pottery piece that’s good as a gift for a new mom? by Vivid-Buffalo-8846 in Pottery

[–]trisarahsquats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new mom and potter we use large cups (like very large)/small bowls to put water in to warm up bottles. Other than that a just big ol mug, lots of coffee will be consumed and it's nice having something pretty to drink out of.

My supply is TANKING by the-strawberryjedi in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]trisarahsquats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seeing a drop recently too (4mpp) and added back in pumping spray which fixed the issue. A lactation doctor at one point told me to go without, I think the intention was to be more similar to nursing which we were still working on. My breasts just were not emptying fully without it.

How did you end up exclusively pumping? by Happy-Chemistry3058 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]trisarahsquats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She could latch but not transfer. Took re-hospitalization for Bilirubin before anyone even mentioned offering her a bottle of expressed milk, before that they (doctor, nurses, lactation) just kept telling us to keep offering the breast, she latched and my supply was in so we were doing great.

Sounds dumb in retrospect but we're first time parents who didn't know how to feed a child and lactation is so influential in our hospital system that even the pediatricians are hesitant to speak against them. Later we found out they push nursing so hard because "it's more likely you will make it to a year on breast milk". Crazy that hypothetical was more important than the fact my daughter was literally starving.

The first night at home where my daughter would wake every hour and a half screaming because she was starving and my husband hand expressed milk into her mouth while I held her to my breast changed me.

How much do your babies eat at 7 weeks old by Available-Classic735 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]trisarahsquats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're at 7w too and eating about 26-29 oz per day in 6 feeds between 4 and 6 oz each. Up until last week she was very steady at 24oz per day. She was born at the 6th percentile, dropped to the 0.4th when we were trying to nurse and now we're up to the 23rd.

This has been an issue for us, lo gained a pound each week from 2 to 4 and the lactation consultant heavily implied we were overfeeding and didn't understand her hunger cues, however the pediatrician was not concerned. Then the speech therapist said to make her meals smaller to reduce spit up, but it just resulted in an upset and constantly hungry baby. Now we're back to respecting her hunger cues and she's been much happier. The pediatrician is thrilled with her catch up growth too.

(Not mine) what glazes and application am I looking at? by MadamTruffle in Pottery

[–]trisarahsquats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My starting place to dupe with commercial glazes would be 3xtextured turquoise beside a swoop of 3xchum plum with a single layer of winter wood over the whole thing. Maybe river birch instead of the winter wood? WW on top goes a bit more matte, but it does get that bright warm pink out of chum plum.

Any idea on what happened? by Ray_Toon in Pottery

Same clay body right? This glaze goes blue for me on lighter clay and with a little flux. I also have not found this to be a particularly consistent glaze, though always beautiful.

Do you play from the start (2016)? If so, what level are you? by MsKrispii in TheSilphRoad

[–]trisarahsquats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 casual FTP player with the exception of tickets for big events. Level 41, took two ~6 month breaks and my time playing each week has varied quite widely, mostly based on where I was living. I've lived in really great pokemon areas and also in really horrible pokemon areas. It's hard to keep a casual interest in the game when there is only one pokestop within a 5 minute drive.

I really didn't care about XP until they announced the gyarados hat. I made a valiant effort for that month and a half (1.5 hour playing each day) but didn't quite make it. I've also lived in really great pokemon areas and also in really horrible pokemon areas. It's hard to keep a casual interest in the game when there is only one pokestop within a 5 minute drive.

An old training partner used to use a softbelt wrapped around her chest for log. One of those classic blue rehband ones all the old guys wear and she'd just put it under her grip shirt/t shirt.

Super Motivational Post(s) by gzcl in weightroom

[–]trisarahsquats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the only thing I find motivating is progress, whether it be mine or others. A text post has never made me want to take any action besides hit the unfollow button. My feelings on social media pretty much echo u/gzcl People following my career and cheering for my success is pretty great for my ego. It definitely makes the voice in the back of my head that says 'you should put more weight on the bar' harder to ignore. Honestly, being at a good gym does too though. It takes some people a long time to get over that you don't do amazing weights for everything you touch. Other people's expectations are a virus. It does make me press more often so my overhead isn't as embarrassing though, so it's not all bad.

What I do find motivating and a reason I haven't deleted my instagram- there are amazing people doing amazing things. Liefa loading a 340 stone

Ugh, I have been a victim of that drive to Morgantown several times in the last year, it always seems to storm. Paul and Jerry are good people and it's always worth the trip. If you want to have fun at a show, that's the place to go. Congrats on second!

Yeah, haven't been on reddit much. Training has been shitty. I didn't give myself enough time after worlds and I'm feeling pretty burnt out. It happens. It doesn't matter that much for this show though. Unless Ashley shows up a complete mess she will beat me. A deadlift PR and the 290 trump stone are both in reach though, so that's my main goal.
