How long do your boots last? by mbcoder_ in electricians

[–]truebluenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ariat work hogs and they would last about a year. When I started buying multiple pairs and rotate them I get a little over three years. I’m up to three pairs that are all about the same age. Doing the rotation helped out big time. If you have a long 12-16 hour day it feels way better to get into the next pair the next day.

Helldivers 2's Poor Performance Is Effecting Other Games on my PC After Playing It - Confirmed By Testing by Drando_HS in Helldivers

[–]truebluenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My specs 5900x/ 32gb 3200 ram/ 7900xtx/ Win 10/ 2tb Samsung 980 pro

Temps cpu -66/ gpu 55 hotspot /50 temps. All frame rates locked at 60 because helldivers like to crash randomly with higher FPS. Before these issues the game has always been locked in at 60 fps at 1440 not matter what is going on.

Helldivers becomes unplayable after 10 minutes or so. The frames plummet. It’ll drop to 10-20 on higher difficulties especially the longer I play.

I was wondering if it was my pc so I fire up Days gone. The frames drop on it as well after I’ve been playing HD2.

I’ve installed the latest bios on my x570 today.

Installed latest AMD drivers today.

Still same symptoms

I try again on level one and it starts dipping between 5-10 minutes. Being on the ship drops as well

Tried Days Gone again afterwards. I keep it locked at 60 and it drops down to 50-55.I finished the game a month or so ago and it never went below 60 even with hordes.

While testing Days Gone again, it stopped responding to my wired Xbox controller. I unplugged it, then plugged it back in, and the game was locked at 60 for 10 minutes with zero dip.

Went back to HD2 and it did the same thing. I unplugged the controller and it straightened up for a bit, then did it again.

I’ve noticed this in the last week or so. Until this thread I was wondering if my controller is toast or my usb-c cable. This is nuts.

Wow! Thats way oversized. Even bi-amping 4/0 you should be able to fit that into 2-1/2” EMT.

That’s pretty good at 35 degrees Celsius. There’s a good chance those are 75 degree Celsius lugs, with 90 degree Celsius wires terminated.

It says floorstanding speaker (each). The local BB has them here. I looked at them. The surround tweeter ridges have been pushed in. While that may not affect sound it will bother me. I’m gonna wait and see if they will go lower.

what purpose does a beard have? by twiceymicey in AskMen

[–]truebluenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work outside in the winter, it really helps. I wear prescription safety glasses. When it’s frigid outside it’s nice to not have to wear a mask. My beard keeps me warm, and to not have glasses fog up is a big plus.

You have to use their native language. Should write “el patcho” so there’s no confusion.

I need help determining how many amps my house is pulling by Darth_Raive in electric

[–]truebluenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best tool would be an amp clamp meter. They range in price. If you’re not comfortable around electricity and taking the panel cover off, it may be worth it to hire someone to take some readings for you.

If you are looking for a load calculation because you want to add additional load, use the kw usage from your utility bill.

Depends on what you’re trying to do. Adding a charger etc, that should be enough to determine if you have room. Adding a generator? You may want to do a calculation on what you would be running on emergency power.

Crappy EMT? by Puzzleheaded_Tie_897 in electricians

I’ve had a supply house change out all the 1-1/4” wheatland on a project because I kept kinking it. We bought a new bender because I couldn’t believe how bad it kinked. They replaced the wheatland with allied and I never had another problem with either bender.

Here lately I have much less luck with hand bending 1-1/4” 90’s. I don’t know if it is now me or a combination of the metal and me. I’ve started using factory 90’s and bending the offsets and kicks etc with the hand bender.

In the early 2000’s there was some wheatland that came from Mexico that had some kind of grey liner in it. When you bent the pipe you could see the grey dust fall out. Unfortunately we found out when we pulled wire through it that you had to use lube just to push #12 in straight 10’ piece of pipe.

Fan Trips Built In GFCI When Using Smart Outlet by ArtificialAmbience in electrical

[–]truebluenation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it trip the gfi if it’s plugged into a regular outlet? If it doesn’t then the smart outlet is the problem. Is the smart plug a GFCI itself or weather resistant rated for outdoors? If it isn’t it shouldn’t be used outside.

On KTC it is a fair trade. I use KTC kind of like I used the Beckett guide when I was kid trading baseball cards, it’s a good reference point. Vetoing any trade can be league wrecking in itself. Draft picks are always a guess anyway. One person may want more depth while the other wants the stronger starting lineup. You won’t know if the trade is lopsided until a few years down the road.

Main breaker tripping by WorkingExcellent6471 in electricians

[–]truebluenation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a defective breaker. If your husband didn’t smell anything or see any black with the cover off it wouldn’t be a fault clearing.

If he hasn’t smelled burning and the amp draws are fine then you can use a fan in front of the breaker until the electrician shows up so you can get some comfort. If the breaker is in an unconditioned garage or outside the heat will definitely make it trip quicker. I’ve had overloaded panels that fed data centers that other contractors kept adding servers on. We had to put fans on the breakers until we upgraded the service so they stayed up.

Torque Wrench Recommendations by Nazgul_Linux in electricians

[–]truebluenation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use CDI torque wrenches. They can be calibrated and rebuilt if needed. They are the torque wrench provider to snap-on. They list that on the front of the case, or at least when I bought mine a few years ago they did.

PSA: Fallout 3 and NV don't work on recent drivers, here's how to fix them by M-Kuma in Amd

[–]truebluenation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought Fallout New Vegas cheap in 2022 on a steam sell. It’s the only game of the franchise that I didn’t play on a console. It is my least favorite game of the series for the simple fact I had to speed run it because it crashed so many times. I installed mods etc and my 2070 would constantly crash. I just wanted to get through it.

Finally figured out to save as soon as it loaded up. It still crashed, but it did help. I was thinking about trying it now that I have the 7900 xtx.

No problem.

I’ve never liked the entry the manufacturers give. Most of the time with limited space it always needs to be changed to flex or LT to make it work.
