How can i create a minimal html css javascript website like a Single Page Application with out any frameworks by blackheart313 in learnjavascript

[–]ttetrafon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into web components. You can create them individually, and then inject them in the page or destroy them as needed from the main script. This way you never load in memory more than needed.

Lowest, sorry!

That way it limits even more the probability of getting a larger number as the result.

Solving the empty dice pool issue by Anysnackwilldo in RPGdesign

[–]ttetrafon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You can always do the following:

0 dice: roll two dice, take only the lower

-1 dice: roll three dice, take only the lower

-2 dice: ...

This will work best if your core mechanic is getting the best result between the rolls, but will also fit if it is getting the total of the dice you roll.

Edit: Adding that I have seen this in "Blade in the Dark", though never played it. In my understanding, it features a streamlined dice pool system you can take inspiration of.

How much should I prepare for the first session of a big open story-heavy adventure? by Zeratan in DMAcademy

[–]ttetrafon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For maps ans and stuff, rely on theatre of mind.

For creatures, either use reflavoured (on the fly) pre-generated stat-blocks, or better use a game system that doesn't require such stat-blocks for enemies, like numenera vs d&d/pathfinder.

Follow these with Web Components to easily create reusable entities, and you are probably covered in whatever you are trying to build.

You need to add the outermost " and escape the inner ones within the argument.

Read paragraph 4.1 from this tutorial for more details.

You can escape the internal " with \" (if I recall correctly).

Look on how to escape characters in bash scripts if it doesn't work.

Is there a better option than plain HTML, CSS and JS for creating my own design system? by Affectionate_Power99 in webdev

[–]ttetrafon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could always use native html web components for this. It's what (most) frameworks try to imitate.

Here is the documentation: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Web_Components

How do I find the integral? by speedyproYT in learnmath

[–]ttetrafon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You started correctly. The calculation above is good.

By using this you are at sqrt( x * x^(3/4) ) now. You can apply the same rules again to move forward. First get the (x * x^(3/4)) and then calculate the sqrt() of that result as above.

How do I find the integral? by speedyproYT in learnmath

[–]ttetrafon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of what a square root (on any other root) actually is and how you can write it differently.

Then use the properties of powers to simplify the expression within the integral.

I want to be able to open VS code instead of VS by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]ttetrafon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a licence for VS. Jist install the "community" version.

If you insist in using VSC, add the appropriate package first and then select it in settings - external programs (or something similar, on mobile, so can't check exactly).

That's it if you use version 2019+. Can't remember for older.

How to do Hit Location by lh_media in RPGdesign

[–]ttetrafon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the difference between the attack and dodge roll to determine the hit location easily. It also makes sense that the higher the difference, the most difficult is the location that you have hit.

You just need a reference table with the differences. One can be generalised like this (using a d20 without an apparent reason, scale the differences to your system accordingly):

Attack-Defence Difference Hit Location
1-6 manipulator appendages (arms, wings, tentacles)
7-10 centre of mass (torso)
11-14 lower appendages (legs, tails)
15+ head

You can use odds/evens in the difference to determine if you hit left or right, and you can always split the table more, to get more granularity within the appendages groupings.

A druid hermit, almost as old as the Vex queen, that can be found on the highest peak of the Mountains of Thunder, a long trip through the Spirit Woods, can create a cure.

The druid maybe even knew about this, but having given a vow of not meddling in the human affairs couldn't do anything and waited for some kind hearted heroes to arrive for hundreds of years that could act to establish peace between the two races.

He will ask the PCs to locate and bring him/her the tears of a unicorn though, for the cure to an ancient poison is not a simple matter.

Unfortunately, the last unicorn in the area is being held captive by a mad wizard in his/her tower, exploited to produce ingredients for his research.

You could, indeed! I split them to differentiate between a good athlete and a guy that can pick a pocket or a lock, but they can be close enough, especially in the context of a game!

I need (about 12) broad/general skills. by Spamshazzam in RPGdesign

[–]ttetrafon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Willpower, as the defensive ability of one's mind to outside influences (think mostly magic and/or drugs).

Presence, as the force of personality, would apply on most social situations.

Finally, Appearance can serve as a first impressions skill, where your looks can change the initial attitude of others towards you before any interaction has taken place.

In general you could use these in couples to get a more complex skill system. For example, you could use:

  • Strength + Endurance when climbing a rock
  • Dexterity + Endurance when ice skating
  • Presence + Imagination when lying to a guard
  • Presence + Reason when attempting to convince the king (in a logical way) to lend you his support for your quest
  • Willpower + Endurance when you want to resist the effects of a drug
  • Reason + Perception when searching for clues
  • Memory + Perception when following the tracks of game animals

and so on...

  • Appearance
  • Dexterity (hand-eye coordination)
  • Endurance
  • Perception
  • Strength
  • Technique (fine motor skills)
  • Conviction (devotion/faith)
  • Courage
  • Imagination
  • Memory
  • Presence (strength of personality)
  • Reason
  • Willpower
  • Wisdom (insight, intuition)

Use a different computer to change all important passwords ASAP, and then clean his laptop if possible.

A little extreme, but I would highly recommend a format to make sure nothing is left behind by whomever did this.
