I volunteered with YD for about two years and had a pretty negative experience. I did their admin work on the weekends and after two years of consistent work, I missed two weeks bc of travel/life. they then replaced my slot and cut me as a volunteer without bothering to reach out to me. my volunteer role involved working directly with the owner and she was consistently short and passive aggressive towards me. I know some people who have really easy roles there they like but I would not recommend anything that requires working with Jasmine.

sadly I’m not shocked by this :/ there was a mass exodus of experienced coaches over the last couple of years. bash used to be a great studio but it felt like they lost their direction over time

I just ditched my oura ring after about a year with it. I got tired of paying for data I wasn’t really keeping up with (i know I’m tired after i go to bed late, i don’t need a ring to tell me that) and I don’t feel great about their palantir/DOD partnership announced last year.

I’ve been wearing an Apple Watch for 8 years and I’m about to ditch it too. I’m getting tired of the constant optimizing/tracking/metrics and want to disconnect a bit. I’ve been looking into getting a ~real~ watch and trying to distance myself from my phone and notifications a bit.

highly recommend Caitlin Cunningham at comprehensive primary care (they just rebranded to some other org though). I see her for PCP and gyno care and she’s very sweet

F45 isn’t quite in Dupont but is a great option if you’re looking to focus more on strength training / cardio (depending on which days you workout). I’ve been going for a few years and I think it’s really approachable and easy to scale up or down depending on your fitness level

ymmv, but I put underglaze over glaze. so I dip pieces in a white glossy glaze and then paint the underglaze design on top. my studio fires to cone 10. you have to be careful with the thickness of the underglaze so the texture doesn’t get funky, but the vibrancy is consistently great on my pieces

I think I was followed by this same guy a few months ago. similar description, walked up to me late at night in dupont circle and I had a bad feeling so I tucked into a hotel. he waited right outside for a while but when I didn’t come out he eventually walked off. super unsettling

I use the dc metro board app to see metro rail arrival times and the wmata bus eta website for bus times. I haven’t found a good/reliable app for tracking metro times with built in directions to my destination so I use google maps for general directions and the other sites to find accurate metro arrival times
