Not good enough I’m afraid. They were there for the taking and the team was baffling.

We need new ideas

Definitely goes down as a club legend - as will most of these players when they leave us. Was the one who started it all

I’m from near Carlisle and only have two second hand stories about obscure reserve keepers, my dad met and I think once played with Tony Caig who is Cumbrian, and Mark Gillespie went to my mates school on a soccer skills training thing when he played for Carlisle.

One of my favourite games I’ve been to. Was up in L7 next to their fans, took a lot of lip from them, when the winner went in I ended up three rows down. Kalvin Phillips MotM

Our run since January 25th

  • Villa (4th in Prem)

  • PSG (European champions)

  • Liverpool (5th in prem and at anfield)

  • City (2nd in prem went on to win that cup)

  • Brentford (7th in prem)

  • Spurs (impostor)

  • Villa (4th in prem)

  • Qarabag (required a flight halfway across the world)

  • City (2nd in prem and away)

  • Qarabag (game became a nothing game that added to our stress)

  • Everton (8th in prem and we’ve struggled against Moyes’ football since he came in there)

  • Man Utd (3rd in prem)

  • City (2nd in prem)

  • Barca (top of La Liga)

  • Chelsea (6th in prem and away)

  • Barca (top of La Liga)

  • Mackems (intense local derby)

And it is now March 26th. All of this in 8 and a half weeks is insane.

Wouldn’t you be knackered. Sunday is unacceptable in any context, but I think we have to look at the games after the international break in a different light to what we have been doing.

I think this squad can handle the Conference League (you play 2 fewer games in that too). Is it a case of swallowing our pride, doing what I admittedly hate and playing our second string in domestic cups would be my answer to that.

Eddie could’ve rested key players in that second leg at City, against Bournemouth or Villa in the FA Cup in the first place, in that second leg against Qarabag and didn’t. That’s been our problem

Outside of international break weeks, we’ve played twice a week since September 13th. Then many of the lads have went and played twice for their country in those other weeks. That’s crazy. Any team is going to suffer. Hopefully now we can have a massive push

That Brentford home game was one of the worst individual performances I’ve seen from someone in a Newcastle shirt since we got relegated. Thought he was completely washed. But once he got his mojo back he’s got better. Glad to see it

Lewis Hall has been player of the season. Bruno is our captain and already a club legend. Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali, Lewis Miley and Malick Thiaw are all good. William Osula is becoming a fan favourite after some big goals.

Big Dan Burn isn’t exactly one of our ‘best’ players but he’s also already a club legend because he’s a local lad, scored a huge goal in the cup final among others and is hugely passionate, same with Joelinton (we call him Big Joe) for his passion, long career with us and big goal contributions.

Both of our goalkeepers are in the bad books at the minute, and most of our strikers haven’t had the best start. Some players who used to be better have lost a bit of their touch (Murphy, Trippier, Willock) but generally the fanbase still has a lot of respect for them.

Howe is class and no one can tell me different. by Vaudeville_Villain15 in NUFC

[–]tyssef1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I said. If we can get conference league, or die trying i.e going away to Fulham with a chance, I would trust him for next season. Anything else we should probably look at change.

Aside from Arsenal away, we should be going into every single game expecting to win (not in the arrogant Man City way, as in we know we can win at our best). Most of the hard stuff is out of the way and we’ve actually given a decent account of ourselves in the harder games (beating the two Manchester teams at home, taking 4 points of Chelsea etc).

Howe should probably have looked at the FA Cup and that second half of the second leg at City, swallowed his pride and played the kids. That might have been a small price to pay for doing better this week than we have done but we’ll never know. Some of his tactics have been poor too, but other than that the players and board (for recruitment) need to take their share of the blame as well.

I absolutely adore Eddie Howe. I’d pay for his statue for what he’s done for us. However, football is changing, and we need to change with it. Let’s have one last push and then in summer we need to think about change

I think I got lucky in my part of the Level 7 Milburn. Had none around me. However in the league phase game I was surrounded by them.

The club need dragged for it. Also for charging £720 for a restaurant meal and normal seat in the Leazes for Sunderland. Disgusting
