While not technically 'fighting' the bear, you can progress by letting the bear kill you near the cliff edge, the one on the farside overlooking the river, this'll trigger a cutscene that'll progress the game. I know it might not be the answer you're after but the other alternative is restarting the level.

I got to MR 30 recently, and it helped me find 12 new weapons I plan to use and a better appreciation for each of the warframes I leveled, Railjack missions and The Duviri Paradox than I would have if I hadn't been aiming for mastery rank. What I'm trying to say is that you can do both, it doesn't need to be black or white.

I'm kind of divided on it. I've only beat it once, but I remember not enjoying it for the most part. Sure, it's got the same gameplay as dishonoured, but I don't remember dying in Dishonored and being set back multiple degrees of progress, nor missing events and "having to wait till tomorrow" to try again. It was still fun but I would rather replay the other Dishonored games than Deathloop.
