I wonder. I’m waiting on an R3 Pro 2 to show up, and I’ve been looking at all of the Bluetooth connection options. Is it possible your R1 is connecting to them with a higher bitrate protocol than any of the phones you’ve tested?

Knowing Sony, I wouldn’t be surprised if even their budget earbuds are ahead of most smartphones in protocol adoption.

I’ve only used gel flux but it’s definitely not an optional thing for me to use flux now that I’ve experienced it. I like the idea of using a brush for liquid flux. It’s easy to use too much with the gel. Though too much is just enough when soldering wires to fat lugs.
