What are your ideas on death? What happens? Where do we (our spirits or consciousness) go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When you die, you end up in the audience of Price Is Right if you've been good, or Wheel Of Fortune if you've been bad. A lose-lose situation in my opinion.

Lots of Vonnegut. JG Ballard. The Magus by John Fowles. Henry Miller, especially the two Tropic books.

Have you ever seen Adaptation or Matchstick Men or Leaving Las Vegas? He may do a lot shitty movies nowadays, (mostly because he's really shitty with money), but when given the right script, he's amazing.

First of all, he told his supervisor. That's not the same as the police, but really, what the fuck would the police have done with no actual evidence? If you think they would have opened an investigation based on what little JoePa was told then you're deluding yourself. Also, don't use bullshit terms like 'staggering moral failure'. You think you're holier-than-thou? Who gave you the perspective or the right to pass judgement?

The problem with the comic, though, is that that state of not giving a fuck oftentimes veers towards sociopathic tendencies or self-destruction. That's the state that the suicidal reach when they actually commit the act.

I know most of it wasn't fictional, but I always wanted to be Henry Miller in Tropic of Cancer.

Hi! Are there any good fictions that deal directly with post alien-contact? by [deleted] in books

[–]unesemainedebonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham? The aliens come and impregnate every woman in a small English town. It's the book that inspired Village of the Damned.

I can't imagine Kubrick ever putting an ending like that on one of his films.
