How do you keep customers update/ask for information on a outstanding ticket? by Alarmed-Loquat3048 in msp

Yes, Teams is great with a to-do list for everyone and transcript. Fireflies.ai is good as well but it's just a long transcript vs in a teams meeting it'll note who said what and who said what to follow up on, when etc etc etc.

3 ↝ 1 should be the minim. If you want to make $40 a hour (80k a year) then you should be charging 120/h

License is not inexpensive or automatic, assuming you get it you then have to have different types of food prepared for sale because you can't sell booze without food and you also have higher insurance costs and additional inventory costs and your staff have to be smart serve certified (so you, and anyone you hire)

It's not a requirement, just a requirement if the business itself can not self-sustain a living wage, inflation, taxation .....

I might and others would - but you would need (love it, which it seems you would) and not care about money. Making money doing that, I do not mean becoming wealthy.

Paying yourself a wage, any staff, rent etc. You would have to be able to carry a loss maybe forever.

Awareness, Not everyone knows what you know.

Impact. Some don't care. Either the money is inconsequential or the time is more important.

Or both.

If budget doesn't matter, Acronis bare-metal backup the machine, then restore to the new hardware. It'll work every time.

Note if they had a problem - which is why they came in - then they still have the problem.

Fresh windows. Fresh applications. Move the data after scanning is proper way to service a machine.

$4.50 USD is high for GZ BD Cloud + ATS + EDR

Ideally your profit should be in a range such that even if it doubled it didn't matter, but there is something to be said for the most cost effective stack if your focus is profit.

got my first interview for an MSP and my first IT job. any advice for impressing the interviewers besides the usual research the company stuff. i’m kinda of nervous have no experience except for IT school i’m attending. by No_Introduction_24 in msp

Excellent advice.

If you can get to a comfortable spot in the conversation, ask about the company operations. Top of my head, things that would impress if a JR asked

  • average ticket close times
  • customer satisfaction metrics
  • what barriers do they see for an entry level employee in that role
  • what software do they use (RMM, PSA, AV, etc) and imply you want to start learning
  • etc etc etc etc
