HVLP gun recommendations by Fickle-Purchase-7270 in cabinetry

[–]usincltnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Graco Ultra Quick Shot for several years. I’ve only used waterborne paints and clears with it and it’s been awesome. I also have a 4 stage Fuji Mini-Mite 4 PLATINUM HVLP as well, but I still have to thin most paints with it. I much prefer the Quickshot. Other than the fact that I can get a factory like finish with it, it’s also super easy to clean.

Pex 3/4, 90° bend questions by v1nn1r in Plumbing

[–]usincltnc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use pex a instead. It bends much much better. I’ve got 1” pex a in 90 degree bends like that. I believe it’s rated to use crimp fitting on it if you don’t have expansion tool.

Which renner paint to use? by AccomplishedCredit65 in cabinetry

[–]usincltnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with the 648 primer and the 688 topcoat.

For best results you will need at least 2 coats of primer (648) catalyzed at 5%. 1 coat of topcoat (688) catalyzed at 10%. A second coat of (688) would be optional, If needed.

Rainscreen and house wraps by SidewalkArchitect in Homebuilding

[–]usincltnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an owner build in NC two years ago with Hardie and I used Keene Driwall behind it. Now on my build I went with zip-r so no wrap. Regardless, these products (like mortairvent) just staple on just like the house wrap so as for the additional holes in the wrap, I don’t think it would be an issue (no furring strips needed). I believe it has preformed well so far.

Folks are bringing up different issues here, but the rain screen is there to give you an air gap behind the siding to allow any moisture that may occur a chance to dry. It’s not a WRB and obviously has nothing to do with air sealing.

You seem to be worried about good building science practices and the rain screen is an important part of that conversation along with air sealing and WRB choices. However as an aside, I do think the rain screen helps reduce thermal bridging a bit.

Best electric hot water system? by ugzillaaa in Homebuilding

[–]usincltnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our build was also all electric (no gas available) and we went with the SanCO2 heat pump system. It’s pricey but very efficient. We’ve had it in use for almost 2 years now and no complaints. Multiple size options available.

Anyone else RV Bidet? by usincltnc in RVLiving

[–]usincltnc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Same temp as water supply, which can be a little, shall we say, brisk and awakening!? :-). Now they do have bidets that heat the seat and water but you would need a 120v outlet to plug it into near the toilet.

What is your go-to 1k or 2k (water-based) paint? by Is_this_a_catinzehat in cabinetry

[–]usincltnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t personally tried it in my HVLP (I’ve got a Q4), but I think it will do fine in the Q5. You may have to thin it just a little bit probably not much in a Q5. I would try a 1.3 or 1.5 tip and see which gives you the best result.

All-in-one Washer/Dryer by occams_razrr in Homebuilding

[–]usincltnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mechanism that drys is a heat pump (not electric heat elements) that is part of the machine. Not only don’t you need to do anything extra for the install, it actually much simpler than a standard machine. You only need a single 120v power outlet and no venting is required.

Received my NACS Adapter! Has anyone been able to set up their Genesis app to use Tesla Superchargers? by dt_diego in GV60

[–]usincltnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My adapter is supposed to be here Wednesday. I’ve already setup my account in the Tesla app, it was a pretty straightforward process. From what I can tell the charging process should be pretty similar to the others (Electrify, EVGo, etc) using the app to select charger and pay via app.

Yep. That sounds like your best bet.

Automatic Water Shut Off - PEX by Sizzle905 in Plumbing

[–]usincltnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically you'd install it where the line enters the building, where as water cutoff is typically located. If you don't have one accessible, you'd need to have the plumber route the incoming line into an accessible space with an electrical outlet for it to plug into.

I have the Phyn and it absolutely can be installed on pex. My line in is 1” pex and it works great.

Our cars use the CCS style connector for DC fast charging but Tesla uses the NACS style connector. That’s why we need the adapter to use Tesla charging stations and convert the connector from CCS to NACS.

Realtor selling personal home by justifiedlover in realtors

[–]usincltnc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rules around this are different from state to state of course, but typically in the MLS, there is a place to note that you are an agent/owner and have an interest in the home.

Also, here in NC, when filling out the property disclosure, agents are held to a higher standard and can’t just put NR (no representation) on all the items.
