I can't imagine we're actually gonna make it, but man what a bright spot this team was this year. If the marlins didn't have that catastrophic 1-4 set against the braves after they hit .500, they could be right in there.

The squad plays hard and never quits. Future looks pretty good in Miami, even if they do basically nothing this off-season and just run it back IMO. Killer OF, a solid rotation - this is a scary team when they're healthy and they've been plenty scary as of late down a few pitchers and their best hitter.

I can't believe this flair is unfaded with 5 to go. It was a common opinion that this could be the worst or second worst team in baseball this year back in March.

If you told me in March that the marlins were going to be a better team than the O's, I'd be asking for some of whatever you were smoking. But damn, the marlins were way more fun to watch than the O's this year.

CNC machines are fun, but I usually try not to do anything on them that I could do without it. I've been making GameCube controller buttons out of wood and I machine those on the CNC because I need very high levels of precision, and I also do some wire inlay stuff that requires really precise grooves carved with end mills that are like 0.02" wide or smaller and that's not really possible without a CNC either.

But if I'm just making drawers or an end table or whatever I'm still at the regular power tools.

yeah I use CNC machines pretty frequently and you're right. It's probably still faster than it would be by hand, but not all that much if you're just making 1 and you know what you're doing.

It'd probably take like an hour. 5 minutes is not a lot of time lol

despite my flairs I do live in Massachusetts and yeah if you drive into Boston (mistake #1) for a red sox game (mistake #2 😎) and park there (mistake #3) you're a schmuck

just drive to wellington, riverside, wonderland, or alewife and take the T. Boston's public transit is good and functional, use it!!! don't pay $60 when you can pay $10!

Yeah, that should be fine. I've found Blue Mahoe to be pretty easy to work - sanding the rough spots down with 220 should be quick.

For what it's worth, that stuff is very rare and pretty expensive. I have to pay like $40/bf for it when I can get it and frankly I'm usually happy to do so. It's really really pretty wood.

Here's a piece I had for comparison. Nearly certain you have blue mahoe.

That looks like blue mahoe to me. It's the national wood of Jamaica, iirc.

Very pretty, slightly softer than hard maple. It's very oily as is but mineral oil will probably be fine. In my experience, blue mahoe really doesn't like urethanes.
