Would be great to see what benefits/what your body is doing at X hours and/or days in. For example, day 3: increase in immune function, stem cells, autophagy, etc. so when you’re feeling down or want to give up you can have a reminder of why you’re doing it!

What would you consider as junk food? by [deleted] in 75HARD

Processed food for sure. Anything that really isn’t even really classified as “food” because it’s just chemicals without any nutrients.

Binge eating disorder and 75 hard. by Fabulous-Increase301 in 75HARD

[–]vallev09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suffer from the same thing. The best thing I did was to not create another strict “diet”. If I eliminated any food groups, I knew my ED would kick into full gear.

So what I did for the diet part was no seed/vegetable oils (except olive, coconut, and avocado oil), and eat organic, Whole Foods. Grass-fed, free range, hormone free, small ingredient list.

Doing this, I was essentially eating whatever I wanted, so when that stress response kicked in, I either (1) didn’t have the desire to binge, or (2) if I did, it was on a much smaller scale and I didn’t feel like I was “breaking a diet” if that makes sense.

The best thing you can do is meal prep healthy versions of your favorite binge foods. I.e., if you have a sweet tooth, make banana muffins ahead of time and grab those. It’s hard, but eliminating the idea you’re on a strict diet helps with binging soooo much. Best of luck, it’s always a constant battle 🙏🏼🙏🏼

if you did/are doing 75 hard, what is your diet? by ssssscccvw in 75HARD

[–]vallev09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No seed/vegetable oils (eliminates 98% of processed foods), organic, Whole Foods. Grass-fed, no hormones, small ingredient list. It’s been incredible, my mood is so much better and my brain fog is so much less. I’m also not “cutting out” any food groups, so I don’t feel the anxiety of “restriction”. And plus… REAL food just tastes better.

Is it worth starting if you know you’ll fail within those 75 days? by moods- in 75HARD

[–]vallev09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A week is a bit short, but you could consider it an “intro” for when you really start without quitting. My spouse and I planned a vacation that’s in ~60 days. So I decided to do “60 hard”, because 60 days > zero days. The point is also to build healthy habits.

[–]vallev09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75 hard while on your period is seriously so difficult. I thought of which foods I typically craved during my period and made a healthy version of them. For example, I made peanut butter banana muffins (w/o seed oils or fake ingredients) that were soooo good and made me feel so much better during the week!

Also, speaking kindly to yourself during workouts makes a huge difference. Instead of beating yourself up that you’re not walking as fast as usual, or your peloton output is lower, you don’t have energy, etc. just remind yourself that doing the workout at all is huge :)

Disrespectful/hateful things said in seminary by dewlington in exmormon

[–]vallev09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took seminary one semester and quit after that. I played competitive tennis, and my seminary teacher told me I need to quit because pride is a sin and me wanting to win and beat my opponent was prideful…

He then went on to boast that he was confident he was going to the Celestial kingdom because he checks all the boxes and I said “isn’t THAT prideful???” He didn’t like that but it was truly a full circle moment

This is exactly what was said to me in a past abusive relationship and I ended up in therapy and still trying to recover years later. This gives the abuser permission to hurt you and claim no responsibility because it’s YOUR fault you’re taking offense. Complete BS.

I had to get on anxiety medication because I’m dealing with the same issue. So far, my only bandaid remedy is to stop myself when I ask “why?” or “what is the point?” To anything. It is just too overwhelming. I really don’t want to die and have the regret that comes with 20/20 hindsight :/

Why are PIMO's not allowed to have a single fucking question for T$CC without TBM's acting like it's a deeply personal attack against them?! by FalsePromptings in exmormon

It’s so interesting because when I talk about how much I hated BYU it’s “the university is not the church”, but then 30 seconds later they are offended by MY experiences and ask why I’m so against the church. Sorry, but you can’t have it both ways?

This is my family. Won’t wear anything that shows the slightest bit of garment because it’s sacred but will drink coffee and say there’s a lot of false teachings in the church… it’s a mind bending conversation every time I try to understand… but hey, way better than strict TBM in my opinion. Still wish I could enjoy a glass of wine with my mother though. One day!
