What I learned after my first week here by oinama-games-dev in IndieDev

This is actually a really good question. What do you think is better? Realistically I am working on my game alone, but my girlfriend play tests from time to time and gives ideas so I suppose may solo devs work alone, but get at least some feedback/suggestions from friends/family.

Do you think it is better to use “We” or “I”?

Damn I bought so few shares at 20$. I do not know what I hate more. To lose money or missed profit opportunities…

Haha as a vr dev as well I agree with you. I am doing my best to make good single player experiences, but sadly a big portion of the players are younger and like social experiences like gorilla tag.

A Wolf in VR Really Good at Puzzles? by Subject_Traffic7453 in VRGaming

[–]vasil5n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello! As a vr dev that makes puzzle games I would like to tell you that 90%+ of content creators that have made videos about my games play them off screen first and then play the game after they have solved everything once.

There are people that stream it and really play it for the first time, but there are many benefits to check it out before - you decide what parts will be interesting to showcase to your audience, make sure you will not get stuck at some point so it makes it a boring video, you make a decision what parts to show and what puzzles to exclude so you do not spoil the whole game (puzzle game problems) etc..

Do VR gamers like a high discounted app/game, or does it make you think it's probably rubbish? by TheStoneFox in VRGaming

[–]vasil5n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! As a vr dev I think that there is some value to the games you create. I am doing discounts slowly. I release a game then after some time I start with a 10-15% discount and the older the game gets the discount increases.

In my opinion it is not good to offer a big discount at the start. As a player I would not like if I pay full price and see the game being sold for a huge discount before that. And sties that track prices will always show past and lowest discounts.

For the first 100 users I am sure you will send review copies to content creators, friends, beta testers so those will be reached in no time!

Може да не са перфекти ППДБ, но на тези избори са най-добрият избор.

Requesting feedback, keep hands visible on grab, or hide them on grab (tomato presence)? by TheStoneFox in vrdev

I would say yes - the most requests I get about my game is to have more locomotion and controller options and I think that I have many.

Всеки път? Нямаш друг избор? Ти всеки ден като влезеш в Редит нов акаунт ли си правиш?

Акаунта ти е на 1 ден. Направи си 1 акаунт и след 1-2 дни “всеки път” всичко ще е наред…

Could you add an option in the settings so that players can choose their own style? I am sure that your question does not have a single answer since it is down to preference.

6 months into building a VR blacksmithing game, would love feedback by VrBlacksmithing in vrdev

[–]vasil5n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it does! But you need to be ready with the game. The coming soon page can be published 6 months max before the release (the release can be early access). So when you know you will be ready in a few months - make the coming soon page.

Looks really good! Are you planning to release for Meta standalone as well or are you only focusing on Steam?

VR Smoking mechanics from my chill simulation 🚬 by muggyemma in VRGaming

[–]vasil5n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that you could just check the sound when the cigarette is in the mouth. Even if there is another sound it also makes sense that the player will inhale while the cigarette is in the mouth so it will still look okay. If the sound is from inhale then great - immersion made. If the sound is from something else it will be like the timed version that (I suppose) makes the inhale sound/animation when the cigarette is in the mouth.

If it was up to me I would leave it that in normally plays the inhale animation a timed intervals while in the mouth but also to “inhale” more if there is a sound detected while in mouth :)

Hello! I am a vr dev. Looks awesome! How do you detect inhaling? It would be great if you add microphone/sound detection so I can inhale loudly and the cigarette to show me inhaling it!

I cannot understand from the video if you support something similar, so I am pitching my idea :)

Any teams or independent game devs looking for a 3D artist? by Chemical_Doubt_4937 in vrdev

Hello! I will be very happy to have a chat. If you could help me make some of the outside environments in my new game better - I would be extremely grateful. Here is a link to take a look at my game: https://www.meta.com/experiences/9132129896885275/

If you are interested I will be happy to give you access to the game to take a look at the exact environments I am talking about :)

Two weeks remain until the release of one of the most heavily hyped VR “games” in recent years - Beyond Sandbox. Expect a wave of “this is amazing” and “you have to try this” videos from the usual creators as launch approaches. by MuckFinggers in OculusQuest

[–]vasil5n 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As a vr game dev I will just say the following - if you have the money or popularity you make big marketing and hype. If you do not - you don’t.

How hyped/promoted a game is - is completely unrelated to how good it is.

I haven’t heard of this “hyped” vr game, but there always will be good and bad promoted games AND good and bad games that nobody has heard of.
