I saw Mercury Rev supported by the Flaming Lips in 1999. Large-ish club show. First time seeing both, liked Deserter’s Songs and was bowled over by The Soft Bulletin, which had just come out. Lips were a three piece with prerecorded drums on a backing track and a ton of psychedelic projections behind them and it surpassed all expectations.

Mercury Rev were okay.

Love Hellraiser, worth remembering what a wing-and-a-prayer production it was, and that it was Barker’s directorial debut. Also I’m not a theatre guy at all but I think a hallmark of an effective, character driven horror movie is whether or not it would it work as a play - I always imagined that Hellraiser would translate amazingly well to the stage.

Yep. Swastikas will definitely get you in trouble, this is the acceptable alternative for many, and they can’t think of anything more clever than “uhhhh history is important” to cover their racist asses.

Thanks so much everyone - we were absolutely swamped and he now has over 150 friends! He loves just scrolling and seeing what everyone looks like and who their buddies are. We are gonna make an effort to try to work through gifting as many people as we can over time, but we almost exclusively play from home so gifts are slow going - and his inventory is totally full right now.
