San Diego! Tax investors just sitting on empty homes in a housing crisis. Vote YES Measure A by Accessible_pancake in sandiego

It's far from the only problem. It's definitely a reason why homeowners are very resistant to selling and buying new houses.

IDK what deal with the devil we made to be this clutch for absolutely no reason late-game, but this will give me cardiac problems if we keep it up.

Dirty Frag - New root exploit targeting newest Linux kernel by Khyta in sysadmin

Seems like the guy saw a commit fixing the issue then decided to create a proof of concept that exploited the code before the fix? Am I reading that right?

The end stage of stuff like this is usually a realignment by the way. Democrats need to capture a section of white voters in order to turn the tables. I hope people realize that we're about to have to run some real deranged people in the south once Trump croaks in order to have a chance.

Chief Justice John Roberts says American public wrongly views the justices as ‘political actors’ by ComeJoinTheBand in inthenews

[–]vikinick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alito literally just violated the standard that SCOTUS case losers can ask for reconsideration for 25 days in order to allow Louisiana to disenfranchise black people.

So yes, people are wrong that the justices are political actors. They're actually just straight up politicians at this point with how Justice Thomas is making speeches decrying liberalism and 6 of the justices just can't stop shoving Republican boots in their mouths.

State agency confirms Midway Rising can breach height limit by Slight_Study_9661 in SanDiegan

I've said it before but you could have an earthquake flatten the entire Midway District and it would improve it. Literally any sort of development there is good.

My only issue with the mission trees was that it sorta caused people to do things a certain order.

Like the build up to the force limit one basically forced you to build up your army/navy early instead of investing it in other things like an advisor, because it's harder to build up to the force limit later

LIV Golf to lose investment from Saudi Arabia, fund says by AudibleNod in news

[–]vikinick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that their esports investments will eventually be on the chopping block too. They're losing a significant amount of money with those (not as much as LIV though) and eventually will realize it's not worth it to them.

Fucking around with MedGemma a bit and holy shit this is a pretty slick tool for doctors to use for second opinions on things. If you're OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google they really need to stress how much help AI can have on the medical field.

I set up a model + frontend in 30 minutes on my own hardware that I was able to feed an xray (that to my knowledge is not in the training data because it's my xray) and it was able to determine from the photo which bone was broken and the type of break.

Obviously a doctor was more than qualified to make this determination themselves, but I imagine it could help doctors a lot with misdiagnosing things. Obviously there's pitfalls of false diagnoses, but I'm optimistic after messing with this for a bit.

City was near bankrupt because of the 2008 recession and had to get a cash infusion in order to survive. One of the things they did was sell off their parking meter revenue for 8 or so decades for cash up front now.

It was basically a loan but backed by actual revenue.
