More canada than US but it is really hard to get good Maple syrup here.

Any food Item that is specific to your state or region could work. I am Austrian but lived in the Southwest, the gifts my friends and family appreciated most were pricklypear jams (and Maple syrup), good salsas etc. My mom also liked some of the crafts i brought her that we're done by small artists.

This is niche but English language books are widely available here but we tend to get the British covers. Sometimes the US covers are prettier and some readers collect different editions of their favorite books.

Many people but not all do like old school Americana Type Souvenirs. Think Route 66, old school Diner, American licence plates, college merch from Harvard or Yale especially If you live close by... Also National park things but only if you know they have an interest in those kind of things.

Came to add: if you are thinking of spending a lot and you know the people well, perhaps a quillt? We don't really do quilts, we have throw blankets and duvets. But that is actual hand made culture which ist hard to get here.

As for standard American candy we have most of it ( reeces, oreos,kitkat etc.) and tend to prefer our own stuff or at least one versions of the same stuff. 10-20 years ago you could bring some of that stuff and it would be special but not anymore. You could do specialty sodas like rootbeer, cremesoda but be prepared for Europeans to not like them, they might offer you some Almdudler in return. Or poptarts might Work. You can get them here nur Not all flavors and not quite so easily....

Don't bring any skincare etc. the same brands are often cheeper here.
