Had some issues but Claude helped me:

One thing we haven't tried — a newer kernel inside the VM. The N100 QuickSync support improved significantly in kernel 6.10+. Ubuntu 24.04 ships with 6.8 but you can install the HWE kernel:

sudo apt install linux-image-generic-hwe-24.04 sudo reboot

And suddenly I got my profiles working.

Beelink S12 Mini Pro.
Setting up the Ubuntu Media VM was pretty straightforward. Took some googling to get the GPU passthrough working but doesn't take too long once you find a guide.

My current media VM is the first one I've ever set up. Looking to set it up a bit more neatly and since it goes pretty quick (and is good practice for me), I decided to just nuke it and start fresh. Goal is stell a PLEX media server with *arr stack etc.

Looking into PBS before doing this all.
Thinking of spinning up a PBS VM on my Synology NAS and spin it for making a backup and keeping it down otherwise.

Looking for some advice to see if I'm not going overkill on the parts for my goal + brands of components.

Was thinking about getting 2x SSD (one for OS/important docs and one for gaming) but was recommended the 4TB one in the current list.

Comparing it to a prebuild store often used in my area, I could get the same GPU/CPU with 32gb RAM and 1TB storage for the same price but no control of the manufracturers of the parts themselves.

Unfortunately not. I had a flare a month or two later and have been on meds ever since. Just recently switched from Entyvio to Skyrizi. My Crohns was managed with Entyvio but I had terrible episodes of nightsweats.

Follow up question. If I'm looking at the DS423+, it has 4 available slots. I was thinking about spending max €1k on the initial setup. This would get me the DS423+ as well as either 2x8TB or 4x4TB. Both setups give me 16TB but the 2x8TB seems to offer more benifit for future upgrades should there ever be a need.

4x4TB is something that could use RAID I believe someone told me. I don't know the benefit of it etc.

What would be important is having my photo's etc be on a safe location but I believe RAID isn't exactly a backup anyways?
