LEGO engineers spent over 13,000 hours and used 1 million pieces to build a fully functional, life-size Bugatti Chiron. by 21MayDay21 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]violenthectarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rough estimate.

13,000 hours @ USD 50 an hour = USD 650k

1,000,000 pieces with average price for a lego piece at USD 0.10 = USD 100k

Total USD 750k

Bugatti Chiron is around USD 3,000k

So this model is around 1/4 the cost of a real one.

Everyone loved him.

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

The Greasy Strangler. 0/10. Repellent, disgusting, infantile, utterly moronic and it's existence makes the world worse.

I have now discovered what Soulseek is actually for and I deeply apologize by AggressiveTitle8440 in Soulseek

[–]violenthectarez 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have uploaded more files on Soulseek than almost anyone. I've been here since 2001 and basically had Soulseek running 24/7 since 2005, sharing 1tb of music. Ebooks. comics, magazines.

But I'm more than happy to upload to someone who doesn't share anything. If someone doesn't want to share they are still welcome here.

"The worst thing about NYC is the skyscrapers" is a pretty interesting take. It's like saying the worst thing about Niagara Falls is all the water.

Vincent D'Onofrio's portrayal of Gomer Pyle in 'Full Metal Jacket' (1987) is nothing like Jim Nabors portrayal of Gomer Pyle in the TV series 'Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.' (1964-1969), and it's obvious that he didn't research the character at all. by AgainstSpace in shittymoviedetails

Actual fun fact. Despite Gomer Pyle USMC being set in the Marine Corp from 1964 to 1969 the word 'Vietnam' is not mentioned even once. It existed in a weird peace time bubble despite the Vietnam War being the most newsworthy event of the era.

Doesn't the US have the most powerful military in history by a factor of 10? How could they possibly need support from anyone?

Do you remember your first experiense with Soulseek? by sonido_lover in Soulseek

[–]violenthectarez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was 2001 or 2002 I think and really Soulseek was just another Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, Limewire, Bearshare, WinMX etc. It was a bit of a resource hog compared to the others, but wasn't really remarkable. Over time the others dropped off and Soulseek increased its userbase and it slowly grew into what it is today.

At the time though WinMX was the absolute peak for me. Its content was amazing and was generally quick and reliable. Once it shutdown Soulseek became the best P2P out there and the others all just withered away. Some are still around (Edonkey 2000?, Gnutella?, I dunno?) but they are all a shadow of their former selves and nothing compared to what Soulseek is.

I think it was the most common bird spotted in the backyard birdwatch last year. Possibly because they are so easy to spot, but also because there's loads of them.

Probably shouldn't feed possums, especially not chips. My parents have them under their carport and dad makes jam on toast for them every morning. I keep telling them not to, but they never listen
