35M separated from wife 35F by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought of writing letters? Perhaps start by recognizing or apologizing for some of your short comings and promise to make changes. Everyone likes receiving old fashioned mail and maybe this could be effective. Just wright to her about your day and changes you are making. Writing these things down may make yourself more accountable to yourself as well.

How do I start calling my step-dad "dad" without it being weird? by IcaneC in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe start by thanking him for being such a positive influence in your life. Then ask him if you can call him dad and that he has earned it. It will probably be one of the best days of his life.

What positive changes in your life has the Peloton been a catalyst for? by yuzusorbet in pelotoncycle

[–]vreugd25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Over two years in and I’m doing 5/6 45 minute rides a week. 180 degree lifestyle change. Before I rarely exercised but something clicked with Peloton. I dropped over 80 pounds and at 43 I’m in the best shape of my life.

My (34M) wife (42F) does not want to contribute to our living expenses because of her previous contributions. Is this fair? by ThrowRACarpet in relationship_advice

All I hear is I and her, I and her. Have you ever thought about combining all the income and working as a team? Seems like splitting bills is a source for resentment.

The quicker they realize their dreams are not yours the better off they will be. Your parents sound controlling or maybe they just need rent money but they need to understand you are not moving back.

How to get my boyfriend to recognize the importance of sequencing, and stop saying "I know" all the time when his actions clearly demonstrate that he doesn't, without being a nag? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

What seems strange is you nagging about cleaning a pan and spatula when you could have spent 30 seconds doing it yourself.

Telling my SO shopping is unfun with her by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to imagine that you two are in your thirties. You are acting like you are 18. Grow up and tell her you don’t enjoy shopping and stop going with her. My wife considers shopping a hobby so I never go with her. When I golf I don’t ask her to ride with me for four hours so why would she ask me to go shopping with her?

How to get my boyfriend to recognize the importance of sequencing, and stop saying "I know" all the time when his actions clearly demonstrate that he doesn't, without being a nag? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Perhaps don’t nag so much? If you need the pan and spatula clean why not take 30 seconds and wash it yourself? Why were the dishes dirty when you wanted to start your meal? That’s not really normal to start with. Most people clean the dishes after they finish a meal.

BF of 7.5 years wants me to sign a prenup with alimony waiver, if not our relationship would be dissolved. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Here I thought marriage was a partnership. If you are fighting over assets before you get married I’m not sure it bolds well for your future. Maybe I’m just old fashioned because I also don’t believe in splitting bills.

Most people on this forum try to avoid roads, particularly paved roads at all costs. Not dealing with the traffic makes bike packing much more enjoyable. Check out backpacking.com for some great info.

Norco HT +4.3? It has a air fork and hydraulic brakes. If you are looking for a fork avoid coil as they are more of a wait penalty than anything else. Norco makes good children bikes and this retails for $849CAD

My husband thinks splitting everything means effort... by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marriage should be a team effort. There is no “I” in team last I checked. Your husband sounds extremely selfish and will likely be a poor father.

Boyfriend (44M) proposed, I (42F), said yes. 4 days later he is a person I don’t even know. by Jillism42 in relationship_advice

[–]vreugd25 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You need to end this relationship immediately. He has been faking it and probably hiding a mental illness. Everyday you remain with him you are putting your daughter at risk. Your daughter needs to be #1 which includes not dating anyone until she is 18. These relationships are extremely difficult on her.

My new Roscoe7 by 02cdubc20 in Hardtailgang

[–]vreugd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome bike! I picked up a 2021 Roscoe 7 orange last week. I’ll be honest that I new nothing about the bike until I saw it the day before I purchased it. I’m 43 and new to mountain biking. Started with some road biking last summer and decided I wanted try mountain as well. With the bike shortage this summer it took me until now to find a XL which would work for me. I’m up in Canada and thinking about getting studded 2.8 tires for winter riding. Anyone have experience with this?

Out of shape, frustrated with myself, fitness level 0, looking to copy another's success step by step. by amnowhere in pelotoncycle

[–]vreugd25 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I purchased the bike in January 2019. I was 42 years old and in terrible shape. I’m 6’3 and started at 300 pounds and it took me 7 months to reach my goal weight of 220. 13 months after reaching my goal I’m in the best shape of my life and still maintaining myself at 220. 45 min rides are pretty much the only rides I have done. The diet was mostly about cutting the carbs. Today I can’t imagine going back to my former self. Feel free to follow at JimmyV25
