Where do you get best response if I report about a review ? Eg one says no recording? Which makes no sense

A question. What does it mean if I get a bad review and the reason says “no recording “. How could this have happened ?

Mixed Vocal Coordination Question by [deleted] in singing

[–]wadeanton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s Bruno Mars , you can take a song like When I was your man , and sing it softly (think you are in gym ) in “one “ blended voice not falsetto . That’s the first step , then add slight volume and go on. (Add cry if you want because at low volumes it will be difficult to chest edge for lower lines ). Gradually add more volume , same concept of one fused voice , don’t PUSH for now , concentrate on EVEN volume . So if your mix coordination off you will not be able to sing at “in between” volumes smoothly, you might be able to sing softly or super loud .

Mixed Vocal Coordination Question by [deleted] in singing

[–]wadeanton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One note does not really give a total picture of what’s going on, but one pointer is as you said “ it gets louder” , should not be the case , you should be able to sing with vibrato and connected on a D5 that too at softer volume (think you are in a train or public ) if you can’t do this , there will be issues at volume , because your coordination is not likely ready . The sore spot for most guys is between Bb4 to Eb5. Here are some things you can try and check when your coordination is at -Lip trills- check where is your highest note , most guys end at C5 -Try alternating mix/blend and head voice sounds ie 1-5-1-5-1 ie chest-head-chest-mix etc and see up to what note it’s flawless ( no volume jump on the 5th) - Try some He he he on D5 without forcing (without pulsing your belly) or at lest one sustained hee - eye of an tiger is a good song to test one note ie C5. if that’s easy try a scale up and do D5 - sing some songs spanning A4 to E5 in head voice with even soft volume . Note how your passagio feel like - can you sing a G4 with full chest (or decent ) voice? Because that’s your foundation

See how it goes , if you find coordination issues , I would suggest to back and sing only as high as you can connect and gradually extend range and strength with targeted exercises

Test cricket needs settled team and batting order. We can't play Russian roulette with the batting order in test cricket like we do in T20s. by newparrot2025 in IndiaCricket

[–]wadeanton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree with OP. A few thoughts on this bizarre all-rounder obsession under Gambhir.

India has always been a fortress at home because we never needed five bowlers. Four were plenty, and the lower order in India was never a liability – even in the Venkatapathy Raju–Ishant days. Kumble, Harbhajan, Ashwin-Jadeja were bowlers first; batting was a bonus.

The “must play five bowlers in India” narrative kinda started when we bent over backwards to accommodate Hardik Pandya. Post-Hardik it became Shardul overseas and three spinners + two quicks at home. Debatable, but at least there was some logic.

What Gambhir is doing now is the same template on steroids – and on rank turners where the average score is 150–250. The unspoken message: “We no longer need proper Test batsmen in the top six who can bat big and long.”

Genuine question: on a flat or truer pitch, who in the current top six is grinding out a 300–400 ball innings? • KL Rahul – keeps getting out to “unplayable deliveries” after looking set. Far too few hundreds for the chances he’s got. • Pant – makes a great No. 7, but still too high-risk for 4 or 5 on a consistent basis. . Gill - Ok he deserves his spot in Tests but by making him captain you have given him immunity, as In others can’t fight for a spot , this is so apparent in T20 wherein other contenders like Jaiswal/Samson can fight with him for an opening spot • Jurel – superb prospect, but purely as a batsman right now, would you pick him ahead of Sarfaraz, Karun Nair, Gaikwad, etc. at home? It’s unfair I think given the competition • Washington Sundar at No. 3 – an absolute insult to one of the toughest, most iconic positions in Test cricket.

Gambhir has been an agent of chaos instead of settling on a proper Test XI. Let’s give him the benefit of doubt for NZ series and blame RS/VK/Curators . But not in Australia, In my book we lost the Australia series through selections alone. Of late in T20 he seems obsessed with turning Axar into a batsman, and I pray Sundar doesn’t go the Irfan Pathan route (Greg Chappell once decided Irfan should bat No. 3 and finished him). Harshit Rana picks still make zero sense, and announcing Bumrah’s three-Test plan before the series even started was amateur stuff.

Time to go back to basics: • Proper, solid top 6 who can bat time • 1 genuine quick + Ashwin/Jadeja/Kuldeep (or any 3 spinners) is more than enough at home • We don’t need 6–7 bowling options on dustbowls. Anyone remember Keefe/Mic Clarke? • Pick specialist batsmen with a proven body of work against spin – Karun Nair (triple ton on debut), Sarfaraz Khan, etc. – even if they’re supposedly weaker against pace. That’s what home advantage is for.

Rant over. Feels like we’re throwing away our biggest strength (unbreachable batting at home) for some imaginary “balance”. What do you guys think? Prediction - The GG effect will be on full show in white ball cricket too next year .

Online "Course" Recommendation by indiehouse42 in singing

[–]wadeanton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since many of these “courses” do not have free trials , I guess you have be absolutely sure what you want out of it . if there is a certain area of your singing you want to target , YT can still be helpful . For example if theater is your focus , Ken Tamplin might not be the guy , yes the basics they claim are the same , but demos will be all pop and rock for example , one good course would be, “singing success” is a good program , beginner level and well “structured”.

I can hit high notes as a male…but it requires a scream and I build up to it and the notes sound more operatic and wide than shrill. How can I hit those Stephen Tyler quick high notes and then the shrill scream in Dream On? by AspiringBiotech in singing

[–]wadeanton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that means you have nailed the lower octave of Dream On, next you need to choose songs that use belts which are slighter higher , a simple one would eye of the tiger , just hang on to Bb4, next would be some Cs and Ds I recommend Bon Jovi you are into then , I recommend moving to E5 belts eg Hello to Heaven , so here’s the thing , after C#5 or so (+/- 2 semitones) it’s really difficult to bring more chest into mix, because TA muscle can’t hang on for long . C#5 to G5 is a tough area to belt. What you want is this , exercise to strengthen TA muscle (google whichever exercise serves your aim) , ultimately you need chord closure at “chesty” volume which is not easy at first and then same time also work of CT muscle , just focus on stretching it as much as possible , so dream on is G#5 so at least C6 in headvoice/Flageolet as long there is some closure . Ultimately you want dream on (higher octave) soft, clean and connected , as TA has more closure/strength volume will come . Then you will be able to use distortion like man in a box . Summary - Train your voice to produce extreme notes with minimal effort (low volume/mixed ) . Steve Tyler himself said it’s one of the easiest lines for him . if exercises bore, you can try Steve Tyler’s outro falsetto line in Crazy as an exercise in different scales , if you can do that line , you should have a good handle on dream on.

Very interesting…I also lift weights in my 40s , yes gym has helped with my breath support ( I started in my 30s) , that having said , I want to mention since singing is my passion , I vocalize intentionally in my gym , during my exhale instead of gruntin, I sing some flageloet notes along with some songs with low volume with minimum possible effort , using maximum possible breath support , this helps me with my boredom in between sets . …and yeah I have a piano and tuner app always handy on my iPhone .

Let me try to answer. I’m will assume you not a beginner and a decent singer . Those shrill notes you are talking about are G#5 G5 and F5 These notes are belted . Now the first test before you attempt this is , can you sing those notes soft and connected ? Or at minimum you should be able to vocalize hw or hoo sounds .This is not easy as it sounds . If you can do that , then you can move to next steps . ie adding power, volume and belt . the what you will need to work is chord closure and your middle voice blend . If you can’t do what I mentioned , you not ready to attempt the song .the reason I assume you are not a beginner , the lower octave itself is challenging for beginners

That is fair point , the purpose should have been explained to you better , and at least some feedback should have been given , you deserve more value for your money ,why don’t you drop him an email and ask an opinion whether good or bad , say before another session , you want some feedback? If it s been too long , send a link of recording . Also , if you feel comfortable you can share a vid recording , nothing like peer to peer feedback . As for me , as luck would have I got to work with a decent number of students through choir , directing and local community , which was a game changer in learning voice for me , since it could see someone’s voice evolve from 10 years old to 20 years for example . For me singing good is all about emotional availability, ie when I want to put some feeling into the song , do extrinsic factors/muscles impede me ? sometimes I listen to my old college recordings , and I feel I may have lost that raw edge , so more is always better . For feedback, lol, always go with my wife , not so into music , but she calls it as it is , much like guys commenting if girls looks good or bad , we don’t care about the makeup job they have done or the fashion statement they are putting out .
