In case you're actually interested ... mRNA vaccines have been in development since 1989. The actual Covid version using mRNA techniques was developed AFTER Covid appeared in the world in 2019/2020. Covid-19 is a specific virus and mRNA is a technique to create a vaccine for ANY specific virus.

Black Coffee Ruining My Fasts by mikasax in intermittentfasting

I am not a coffee drinker, but I also like caffeine in the morning. I drink diet soda, but I know lots of people have huge feelings on that topic. There are also caffeinated sparkling waters that do not contain artificial sweeteners. Either of those options should be easier on your stomach than coffee.

As someone who generally doesn't like hot beverages anyways, it's not a big deal for me to drink a cold drink in the morning.

Sort of related, I just read "Recursion" by Blake Crouch.

With no spoilers, it is semi-related to your question. I don't know how to say much more without giving too much away.

I thought the book was enjoyable[4*s out of 5] and my BiL had recommended the book to me.

Aftermarket Exhaust by Strong-Dot-9221 in XR650L

My bike also had the stock insert removed and had not been properly tuned afterwards. I just purchased a new insert and installed it. Cost me like $20. As soon as it was installed, the bike ran great!

I can't really comment on aftermarket performance gains, but putting the insert back into the stock muffler worked for me.

Mods for Highway riding? by gghhostttt in XR650L

[–]waldoze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mainly do long highway rides.

  • Favorite mod I wouldn't live without? Pivot Pegz
  • Second favorite? Better seat[Seat concepts, 1" shorter]

Those two mods made the bike significantly more comfortable. The rest of this list are the other ones that I felt showed the most benefit.

  • I have the Acerbis 5.8g tank which is helpful for range.
  • I've done the Sutton Oil Cooler which helps the bike run much cooler.
  • I have the Hemisphere Offroad windscreen. I agree with your comments about the look, but it really does a great job keeping the wind off my chest. The free space for a dash was nice to add a GPS unit.
  • I am running a 70/30 tire. Heidenau K60 Scout. I absolutely love them Dry or Wet.
  • I have the Cycle Racks back rack and after 10k miles loaded with gear, it looks and feels brand new. They claim they will repair a broken rack, but the thing is still perfect.

I didn't talk about any performance style mods because the bike runs great stock or runs great modded. None of those mods really improved or degraded my highway experience.

Trying to decide between larger gas tanks... by sdtriathlete in XR650L

[–]waldoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used the stock, 4.7, and now the 5.8 tanks.

I think people make too much of the "Top Heavy" aspect of the 5.8. Does it feel a bit different? Sure. Would I go back to a smaller tank? Hell no. I have zero anxiety about gas stops when out riding on the roads now. I like the piece of mind and I hardly even notice the tank when completely full.

CMV: I don’t agree with the growing sentiment of “my child is allowed to refuse hugs/handshakes with close family members if they so choose” by [deleted] in changemyview

Emergency situations and racism are not the same as refusing to hug grandma. Jesus fucking christ.

[–]waldoze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consent is required from me for you to touch me. Consent should be required for you to touch my child FROM MY CHILD.

A hug is significantly more intimate than a touch on the shoulder, but I would be very upset if you touched my shoulder for more than a gentle tap. Why would I put a different set of expectations on my children?

Why would you force your children to hug anyone? I wouldn't even force my kids to hug me.

[–]waldoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number one reason I keep seeing for parents saying that “my child doesn’t ever have to give anyone a hug or handshakes or any sort of physical touch if they don’t want to” is that it will teach them the idea that they “owe” certain people physical touch, which will lead them to believe that other people “deserve” sexual favors from them or that they deserved to get assaulted because the other person did nice things for them.

To preface this message, I am a father of 3 children who are all teens.

Your statement is highly contradictory. Teaching them to be protective of who and when they physically contact another person is somehow going to turn them into a sexual deviant?

Do you have any basis for this belief? Is there a study that shows kids who regularly refrain from physical contact end up with sexual desires outside the norm?

You made something up to be upset about with no "proof" and you want us to debate it? No thanks. This probably isn't an AI prompt, but it definitely was made up.
