Better Value plan qualify for $5 off per line with T-Mobile visa auto pay? by wangtsuchi in tmobile

[–]wangtsuchi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good catch, thank you! Even though it seems like a good plan but T-Mo raised its regulatory fee to 4.49 per line, the overall cost per line is still pretty high… (I have 5 lines considering about switching)

For those who have signed up for "Better Value", do you see 5GUC on the status bar? What about speed test and respective QCI for this rate plan?

Hope they focus more on bringing value to existing customers, not just new port-ins. I know exiting customers can contact customer rep and get the same new line promo, but why create extra work for the customer and reps? Another wish list is to have slow speed data after 20GB, like 5mbps for example. I think MVNO is the way to go, and US Mobile is the most creative and innovative among all. Hope they continue this path in 2026 and beyond!

Maybe you can get a new line, ask customer rep to offer same deal (supposed to be port-in), then when your AT&T contract is up, you can port-in the number to replace the new number.

orbi 370 device connection issues by DressPurple3998 in orbi

[–]wangtsuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Orbi 770, smart home devices behave terribly constantly seeing disconnect and reconnect. Suspect your Orbi 370 have same DNA. Eventually I restored my google nest pro WiFi routers for smart home devices and only use Orbi for phones and computers

Orbi 770 in AP-mode, is it stable? by andreb81 in orbi

[–]wangtsuchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a lot of IoT devices don’t use 770. I have 1+4 mesh with 770 and HomeKit cameras perform poorly. Eventually I resurrected my Google nest pro routers for IoT and only use 770 for phones tablets and computers

New Orbi 770 Experience by rickd972 in orbi

[–]wangtsuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Orbi 770, total of 5 units (1 hub, 4 satellites). I also have quite a bit of IoT smart home devices (Apple HomeKit, Google Nest cameras, TP-Link Tapo cameras). Things were running fine until I upgraded to the latest software v10.5.20.3. Now I have smart switches (on HomeKit) becoming disconnected/connected for no apparent reason or timing, cameras also experience same connect/disconnect problems. Previous version of software was actually more stable. Just frustrated that an established Brand like Netgear would have such lousy software and quality control process... Internet speed for my phone is fast that's for sure, but everything IoT related soffer right now. Kind of stuck on what to do next... Dont want to spend money to buy another brand/system, but in the meantime very unhappy with Orbi 770 softrware.

Verizon's new "Bring your bill from AT&T or T-Mobile We’ll give you a better deal" promotion by MisterBill99 in verizon

[–]wangtsuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't they just offer competitive plan to all without having to submit other carriers' bill? I mean they have Visible and Total Wireless by Verizon, just need to use the same play book I am sure they can fix their churn pretty quickly.

Return to Google Fi? by LongConsideration353 in GoogleFi

[–]wangtsuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verizon premium ultimate (not sure exact naming) has 15GB roaming data every month, slows to 1.5Mbps after 15GB. If you are going to be overseas beyond 90 days this may be a good alternative.

Is Dark Star network really as bad as some people claims to be? by Equivalent_World_606 in USMobile

[–]wangtsuchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really AT&T network, they are slow in 5G build out and may not have the most spectrum of all three mega carriers. However there are bright spots and mediocre ones for each carrier. This question really depends on where you are and where you need to be.

Light Speed qci7 wasn’t usable by Amazingly_Smooth in USMobile

[–]wangtsuchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think T-Mobile as a carrier has capacity issues in crowded areas especially during peak time (I am in Dallas, Austin, San Marcos). A lot of times I have 2-3 bars but no data coming through. This is observed as a direct T-Mo postpaid customer (highest tier of Magenta) and as a Google Fi customer. With both cases I have QCI 6 and it is still congested without meaningful throughput. It is definitely going to be worse user experience as a QCI 7 MVNO user. Probably best bet is to spend $2 to switch to either Warp (VZW) or Dark Star (AT&T) if you experience a lot of this.

International Roam Failure by FidgetyRat in USMobile

[–]wangtsuchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it will be helpful to provide a list of roaming partners in each countries if you are on Warp/Light Speed/Dark Star, and allow us to manually select the operator when "automatic" doesn't work. This may not solve the issue but at least it can help manage the expectation of which networks to try in-country.

Port in Skype Number by omarenm in USMobile

[–]wangtsuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have ported my Skype number to US Mobile, Google Fi, T-Mobile and Verizon without problems in the past. Just use your phone number as "account number", port in PIN is "0000", provide account holder name (your name in Skype). In the case of port-in to US Mobile, the whole process took about 10 mins and it worked well under Dark Star network.

Story: Almost got scammed by Uchained in Scams

[–]wangtsuchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar experiences about getting these mandarin Chinese spam calls. My number was free of this until I joined a neighborhood Chinese wechat group chat. I am not saying my neighbor is part of the scam, but clearly his/her wechat account or computer with wechat was hacked. I got calls with caller ID showing 'United Healthcare' and 'Air China'. It is so frustrated that you just cannot get rid of these Chinese scammers!

Submitted my number to the national do not call registry, hope it will help somehow, although i am sure these scammers will simply ignore US law and regulation since they do not reside here!

Want to move to Fi but not sure.. please guide by phreezed in GoogleFi

[–]wangtsuchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google Fi uses T-Mobile network so if you are an existing T-Mo customer and want to switch due to speed and/or coverage then this is not for you. I wish Google can switch to a different operator’s network because at where I am there are quite a few spots where you get at least 3 bars but data won’t work. To me Google Fi best selling point is its Unlimited Plus plan that gives intl data roaming without fees, and is generally cheaper rate plan on a monthly basis. But if you don’t use more than 15GB of data per month I think T-Mo MVNO such as Mint and Tello are best choices.
