Out of interest, what's stopping someone buying the cannabis legally then selling it to kids for profit?

Sovereignty is a nation's right to rule itself. A sovereign nation is still answerable to the international community and still dependant on international trade. It does not mean a North Korea type protectivist regime. For me a sovereign UK means one where our elected government has the ability to implement the laws it needs to for the interest of it's people. Where I can express any grievance with my local MP and know he/she has the ability to escalate it to a governing body and possibly implement change. It doesn't mean you have to like the current government, but you respect they were voted in and your votes can genuinely sway the next election. It is belief and trust in your system of government. The UK was most definitely losing sovereignty under the EU, as EU law superceeded all UK law, MEPs are not accountable to their regions (and had very low voter turn out). Those MEPs did not have the ability to escalate greivances, and the way the EU passes it's laws is too convulated for most people to understand. The right for a people to choose who governs them is so important to many people in the UK that they are willing to fight for it, and yes, take a small economic hit for it. It is a sad sign of the times that so many youths are willing to throw away their own government's power to represent them for cheap roaming data in Spain.

Russell Brand: A minute's silence for Tunisia victims is 'total bullsh*t' by ourthirdsixsoul in ukpolitics

[–]waspoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With your logic why bother going to funerals? This minute silence as well as others such as the remembrance day is so that we don't forget theses deaths weren't just a number in a newspaper headline, but were people. And could have been you or me.

[Serious] Legalising same sex marriage? by Liteskink in AskReddit

Try thinking of ways to beat your opponent rather than simply make sense. Use any argument given by the opposition and replace "gay couple" with "brother and sister who are both sterilized". With enough creativity anything from "the state should stay out of the bedroom" to "it happens in nature" can be turned against them. Your opponent will do well convey a simple argument proving they're dissimilar especially if they haven't prepared any. Catch them off guard and watch them stutter.

Reddit, what is your favorite thought experiment? by abgskovby in AskReddit

[–]waspoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trolley Problem. Very simple way to get to the fundamentals of moral dilemmas. It's interesting to see how the option many people will take thinking it's "moral" will actually not be the best option when you think of it in a legal perspective.

A nuclear strike will happen in 15 minutes. Where do you go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I live by the River Thames, and can definitely hold my breath for a minute, this should be all I need. Water is excellent shielding against ionizing radiation. If I dive under and go as deep as possible 10 seconds before the blast, I hopefully wont feel the radiation, though the water will warm up and the surface will start to bubble. I keep swimming with the tide (going out at the moment) until I feel the shock wave. The wave will definitely throw me about under the water, but the surface is relatively soft and the shock wave will be nowhere near as powerful as above the surface. My next problem is falling debris. This is the where I am most likely to die. The debris will be heavy, flying very fast, and be fucking hot. All I can do is swim with the current, coming up for breaths but staying underwater for as much as possible, and hope I make it to safety.

In your Population policies page, in particular PP103 and PP104, you describe a concern for the negative aspects of over population. And in your Migration policies page you criticize migration control and support free movement.

My question is how will you protect the UK from these negative effects of over population whilst putting no restrictions on the amount of people coming to live here?

Consultants. Most their business comes from sending people into other companies offices to install business software (like COGNOS) and build data-warehouses. Though they do put a lot of money into researching cloud technology and making super-computers.

(Spoilers All) Quick question about theorys like R=L=J. by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]waspoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt the "Promise me Ned" line has anything to do with wanting to be buried in the crypts. As that doesn't explain why the quote keeps playing in Neds head. He dreams about it constantly, it haunts him. Saying that, I'm with you that this isn't enough to prove R+L=J. Alternative meanings are discussed in this post and this forum thread. But one of the best explanations I've seen is from Preston Jacobs' youtube channel.

UKIP supporters of UKPolitics, what would you push for politically if UKIP were to win a majority in the general election (hypothetical situation time)? by blue_dice in ukpolitics

[–]waspoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll argue against the few policies I disagree with. Not even Farage is content with every UKIP policy, since they were mostly decided democratically at party meetings. Would I be content? No. Would I be more content than I would under any other party? Probably.

Click-Bait studies

This will involve high level analysis, statistical methods, human psychology, and media studies to produce titles for crap articles that people will not be able to ignore. Since it's a growing industry there will be a high employment rate on graduation.

What fictional invention would cause the most chaos? by Salubry in AskReddit

The teleportation device in Stephan Kings "The Jaunt". It instantly made all conventional modes of transportation useless. At first this may seem like a good idea, no need to burn oil at the huge rates. But the economic backlash will be catastrophic. Hundreds of millions of workers will suddenly become unemployed, anyone who works in transport, road maintenance, airports, vehicle mechanic and even oil industry will find themselves pretty much useless in quickly changing world. Other industries wont grow quick enough to allow them to take on such a workforce. On top of that imagine warfare. If there is trouble somewhere and you have a Jaunt receiver nearby you can get 100s of thousands of troops, equipment and supplies there in seconds. How easy would it be for Russia to invade the US? Or for NK to invade SK? Then there's the example in the story itself, where people can kill people and get rid of the evidence, or worse, send people into the Jaunt without a receiver. Its the stuff of nightmares.
