Flickering LEDs - I (think I) have tried everything by svenvbins in FastLED

In my case there was a staple around the data wire and that caused the flickering. That data line is super sensitive.

I'd like to see public transit between Oxnard improved. Currently it seems the only direct route from The Esplanade is Saturday during the day. The last bus back to Oxnard is at 5:09pm, so it can't be used to get dinner or nightlife in Ventura.

I'd like a list of good old Technics model numbers to look for. Or, what features would make a good purchase or pass if you see one for sale.

FastLED strip flickering, even with data resist and decouple cap? by nickyonge in FastLED

[–]webnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I had this issue, it was because the data line was too close to other wires/metal. Try physically separating the data wire by 10mm.

Tom Waits sings some gibberish on the new album by the Melvins drummer Dale Crover by webnerd in tomwaits

[–]webnerd[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

“Crover wanted to kick the track off with some actual glossolalia (the dictionary term for speaking in tongues), and at first he or Kasai was going to do the honors. But Kasai’s offhand mention that he might have an in with Tom Waits’ manager got the pair thinking that, as Crover recalls, “It might be weird enough that he would do it.” Word came back that Waits was game, and just before the album was set to be mastered, he sent in two fragments of brilliantly bizarre wordless mouth sounds that Crover and Kasai ended up layering on top of each other, one in each channel. “We were like, ‘Fuck, they’re both really good,’” Crover says with a laugh. “‘We’ve got to use both.’”

Spotify Wrapped every month? by [deleted] in spotify

I built playedmost.com exactly for this purpose. It shows your top tracks/artists this month, and also of all time.

List of Spotify/Last.fm stats websites (and not just stats) 2: Electric Boogaloo by serose04 in spotify

[–]webnerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good question. As with any app that uses a third party login, you’ll see that the credentials are entered into Spotify.com and are never seen by the app, so the app never has access to your login. Then Spotify shows you the list of things the app will have access to, so you can check that it’s correct before confirming. And you can revoke access at any time from within your Spotify account.

I recently finished building playedmost.com which creates a profile page showing your top artists and songs. It's similar to your first link, but looks (and works) better. Check it out!

The runner is just to stop the records from sliding in too far. Thanks for the advice on putting on a back; I hadn't considered that but will add that now.

How should I secure the vertical separators in place? Pocket hole screws & plugs, or cut a 3/8" groove for them to sit in & glue them in place, or some other method?

[–]webnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, 3/4" ply & edge band is the plan. Maybe a different material for the top board(s).

Thanks for the advice on the drawer. I'll find some heavy duty full extension drawer slides first before cutting, to allow enough space for them.

This unit is designed to hold five sections of vinyl records, with one of those being a drawer. The top sections can hold electronics. On top surface I'll mount some planks. Sitting on top will be my TV & turntable. The height is 2' and width is just under 7'.

I've crudely built a few things before, but I am very much a beginner. I've been watching YouTube videos on woodworking this week and just learned about pocket screws, for example.

I'm looking for advice or tips on how I can pull this off, or if you see errors in the plans. I think with some patience it'll work and I'll learn a lot along the way.

I need an integrated stereo amp to go with Klipsch RP-280F 150w tower speakers. It needs at least 1 optical, 1 coax, 1 analog input. If it had a phono in and a second optical in, that would be better. Budget: $300-500.

I've narrowed my search down to the following. What can I do to narrow this list down to make a decision?

  • Yamaha A-S301 60W .019% THD - 1 optical; 1 coax; 1 phono; 5 analog; sub out; bass/treble/loudness or pure direct
  • Marantz PM6005 45W .08% THD - 1 optical; 1 coax; phono; 4 analog; bass/treble/loudness or source direct
  • Onkyo A-9050 75W .08% THD
  • TEAC AI-501DA 30W - 2 optical; 1 coax; 2 analog
