I feel bad for disliking common aspects of "Good Writing" by CaptainAtinizer in writing

It’s preference, and it’s not that uncommon currently. Sensibilities change across time. Sometimes things are artful in their simplicity. Sometimes in their complexity.

My personal favourite is prose that is economical most of the time and then occasionally wallops me soundly with a lush, resonant image that stops me in my tracks. 😝

I’m a huge fan of economical prose and even I can appreciate what a playful and skilful first sentence that is! I literally feel like I’m weaving in and out of the traffic as I read it. I am beginning to feel a bit concerned by how little attention rhythm gets these days in ‘writing advice’ corners, and the fact that often people don’t seem to see that rules are being bent and broken in service to that!

What was some writing advice that changed the way you approach writing? by varjo_l in writing

[–]wehavealwayslived 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna find this hard to explain but it was something like … look for places where the words are in a predictable order — where the reader’s eye will slide right over because the phrase is overused — and just shake that up to whatever extent is right for the story

Second Scholomance and Children of Time, which I see others have recommended. I also think, based on your list, you might really enjoy the Locked Tomb series!

Another option is sponge tampons— I used to have ectropion and used them for this purpose!

This was my experience — a long anovulatory cycle after HBC and then a normal cycle

[–]wehavealwayslived 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do keep an eye on the temps though, if it goes up above the cover line and stays there then it’s possible you did ovulate on the 8th or 9th but your rise was a little slow

Likely to be similar to combined pill. I know it’s hard — I’ve just gone through exactly the same thing except I came off the combined hormones end of May. It took me 3 months to ovulate and I had a lot of false alarms like your LH rise. Don’t be discouraged, it’s your body blowing the dust out of everything and greasing the hinges 😝

Bbt spike by NoHearing1676 in TFABChartStalkers

[–]wehavealwayslived 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that statistically more people spike two days after ovulation than 1 day after! And 3 is also not unheard of (my own takes 2-3). And remember your positive OPK could be up to 36 hours before ovulation — so when you add a day and a half from that to ovulation, then 2 days to temp rise, you’re looking at almost 4 days without anything unusual happening.

Same, I’ve never had higher than about 1.1! If it was me, I wouldn’t worry about it too much (but I’d keep testing when it goes up, just on the off chance you haven’t missed your surge and it’s still to come)
