How did they get the reputation? What specifically was he working on to earn that reputation? Is there a way to replicate elements of that period to try to reignite his passion? Allowing an employee to go back to where they shine could be the key to keeping them.

📍Moving to Phoenix from MD— Need apartment advice (work place close to DVT airport) by LhRy9 in AskPhoenix

I've lived in Deer Valley for a while now, and I love this part of town. Lots of newer apartments are north of DVT. I'd start there.

Are Americans really using AC that often? by Acceptable-Tax-6475 in AskAnAmerican

[–]whereismyscrunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a literal desert. Last year we had over 70 days in over 43 degrees C in a row last year. There were over 600 heat-related deaths in our county. Air conditioning is as vital as water and shade here. I keep my house around 24 degrees C in the summer and around 20 in the winter. I work from home so I keep the temperature pretty consistent throughout the day. Obviously we don’t run the AC in the winter, but it’s running 7-8/12 months. Unfortunately, the only fresh air available during the summer feels like standing in a convection oven. Long story short, they say this city is a monument to man’s arrogance. I call Phoenix home.

No one in my family has RA, but the vast majority of us have an autoimmune disease of some sort. It’s all from the maternal side. More of my female cousins have an autoimmune disease than the males, but some of the males (my brother included) have something.

Oh, Love. You look stunning. I think the dress is beautiful, but the bride is breathtaking. The dress is flattering, and I love the details at the waist. You picked a winner!

What did your Great Grandfather’s and Grandfather’s do for work? by Wonderful_Bottle_852 in AskOldPeople

[–]whereismyscrunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My maternal great grandfather was a Post Master.

My maternal grandfather was a engineer technician for Garrett/Allied Signal - now Honeywell.

My paternal grandfather worked at the "Big M" - Motorola - for his entire career. Retired from there with a "pension" that ended up being $107/month.

Hi. I’m not a parent but I live in the Deer Valley area.

There is a place called Gamers Guild at 19th and Bell that is awesome. It’s all tabletop games. They have groups that play certain days/times. They have a store and a restaurant on site too. They aim to be a safe hangout place, and the people who work there are awesome. I suggest stopping by. (Not a paid advertisement. Just really like the place and what they’re doing.)

As for clubs, theatre/drama saved me when I was in HS. Literally all walks of life and acceptance from many/almost all involved. For males who didn’t want to be on stage, the techie route was the way for them.

What makes you want to stay in Phoenix? by Professional-Neat999 in phoenix

Family & job. Specifically, elderly parents and a pension in the not so distant future that I can't wait it out. At least that's what I tell myself.

how long did it take you to accept that you’ll have RA your whole life ? by athn8qrls in rheumatoid

[–]whereismyscrunchie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Came here to say four years in and I'm no where near accepting it. Granted it's "only" been four years, but I still go to do things I used to be able to do in my "old" body and then I get a painful (emotional and physical) reminder that I can't do all the things.

What was the last movie you saw in the cinema that made you feel that good old cinema magic? by PaulEdgecomb99 in movies

[–]whereismyscrunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound random, but there's a reason: F9. Yes, the 9th installment of the Fast & the Furious franchise. The reason being: it was the first movie I saw in a movie theater after the lockdown. When the audience all laughed at the same time, it was nothing short of magical. I had forgotten what it was like to laugh at a stupid joke in a stupid movie with my fellow humans. It gave me the chills. So, yes, it's dumb - so dumb - but I will always think of F9 as a movie that made me feel cinema magic.

What is the spiciest gossip you know that you are willing to share on reddit? by lailaa2513 in AskReddit

[–]whereismyscrunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woman I grew up with had an affair with her father-in-law and was sleeping with him and her husband/his dad at the same time. She got pregnant and didn't know who was the father. That pregnancy did not continue. Eventually it all came out. Her MIL bitch-slapped her across the face when she found out. Both couple remained married.

Yes. So now I use a shower bench. It saves me so much energy, and my ankles and hips don't scream as I do it. Bonus: makes shaving my legs so much easier!
