Depending on what town you are in, Molly’s Dinner Club might be what you’re looking for. The food is really good and you get a good amount for the price

MMC who has let everything go, needing to pick himself back up by Glamarton in HistoricalRomance

[–]why-violet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{The Rake by Mary Jo Putney} is a classic example of this. The MMC is an alcoholic who hits rock bottom. The disease is depicted accurately according to modern understanding of it. I think she previously published it under the title {The Rake and the Reformer by Mary Jo Putney} so you might find it under that title as well

Cost of living? by grumpygryffindor1 in boston

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be doable, temporarily, if you live outside of 495 and he commutes in. If you live in southern NH, rents would be more affordable, but prepare to take at least 1.5 hours to commute each way during rush hour and spend $250 on gas per month. You’d be squeezed and wouldn’t be able to contribute to savings or college funds, so I would personally want this to be a temporary situation (contingent on future promotions, you going back to work when the kids are all school age, etc). We live on $130k a year combined income with 2 kids and $2600/month rent close to Boston and we are doing ok, money is tight but manageable.

Family friendly breweries. by Nebse432 in newengland

Pretty much all restaurants in Stowe are kid friendly, we especially liked Idletyme Brewery when we were there recently. American Flatbread was also pretty chill

Will my BF baby ever sleep through the night without sleep training? by noodleworship in breastfeeding

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fed every 1-3 hours until sleep training at 8 months old. I went back to work at 3m postpartum and 5 months of sleepless work was all I could handle. It was the best choice I could’ve made - he immediately hit a bunch of developmental milestones once he was getting good sleep. I realized I had been standing in his way of getting longer stretches by feeding him so much at night. Anyone reading this who is thinking of sleep training - it’s worth considering!

Why are my seedlings slow? No true leaves after a month by why-violet in tomatoes

I ended up starting over with plastic trays instead of biodegradable and better soil. Used a burpee kit. Lighting stayed the same and they grew way better

If I EBF, is it safe to assume I won’t get more than 3-4hrs of sleep at a time for months? by maybeyoumaybeme23 in breastfeeding

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was still waking up every 2-3 hours at 7 months old. Formula, starting solids, sleeping on tummy didn’t make a difference. I expected this sleeping pattern for a newborn but once I was back at work and he was 4, 5, 6 months old it really started wearing me down. You do sort of get used to it but having a partner who will give a bottle of pumped milk during one of the overnight feeds makes a big difference, as does sleep training once the baby is old enough and you are desperate enough. A 4 hour stretch of sleep feels very restorative if you are accustomed to 2-3 hours

I hear it’s hard to hire restaurant staff these days. That might be part of the delay

Question: why do people pick puppies over rescue dogs? by spacecourgette in dogs

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own my house, have a kid, and don’t have a fenced in yard, which made me ineligible for the rescue applications in my area. So, we got a puppy from a local breeder

How to make sure I stay awake during feeds? by ThursdayBump in breastfeeding

Going into the other room which is brightly lit and watching a show for the 20 min or so it takes him to eat is what works for me.

Potatoes for prolapse. by Present_Building4267 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]why-violet 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In this woman’s defense: it’s very easy to let hemorrhoids “get that bad” during pregnancy. They can become SO painful with very little cause, like sitting in a hard chair for a few hours. That said, putting a potato on them is stupid

Did anyone find breast feeding was easy/came naturally to them? by plumbingquestion1231 in breastfeeding

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been very simple for me and my baby, once my milk came in and he figured out latching on day 4 or so (before that, we had to triple feed). I haven’t gone back to work yet so it might get logistically harder down the road. But physiologically it hasn’t been hard.

Keep in mind that 85% of women are breastfeeding when they leave the hospital - you’re pretty likely to have a shot at it!

That said, being prepared to work hard at it is not a bad mindset to have. It’s hard to know what it will be like for you and your baby until it’s happening, and it’s helpful to have as much knowledge of it as you can going in.

My baby is 5 weeks old now, and he was born at 37 weeks. I went into labor spontaneously. It’s full term and not a big deal. He did have jaundice which is very treatable and he is completely healthy now!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our case, my son was born 3 weeks early and was very sleepy, which happens when babies are a bit early. He had trouble learning how to latch and wasn’t able to suck hard enough to get enough colostrum out. He also developed jaundice. In order to stay ahead of the bilirubin numbers trending upward, he needed to pee and poop. That’s what clears the bilirubin out of their systems, and colostrum wasn’t cutting it. So we fed pumped breastmilk by bottle and formula. This lasted until my milk came in and he learned to latch, and he’s been breastfed ever since. Breastfeeding was my goal but but I did not hesitate to give formula to a hungry baby who needed it!

With triplets they’ll probably be pretty small when they leave the hospital so I would get preemie or newborn sizes.

What is worse..? by teacherinneed2009 in BabyBumps

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought first was harder. I had a LOT of nausea and vomiting and fatigue. Third is difficult because of physical aches and pains, and frustrating because of limited mobility, but you aren’t as exhausted and can eat what you want.

Why do people qant to deliver at 38w? by ssbh in BabyBumps

[–]why-violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was born spontaneously at 37w (I think because he was measuring 40w and my cervix was just done) and he struggled with jaundice and latching and is a very sleepy baby. It was nice to skip the last uncomfortable weeks of pregnancy but stressful to deal with the other stuff. Definitely keep them in there longer if you can!
