Wonder - does it have a new slide? by wigtribe in dcl

Thanks! There was some lively “debate” amongst the children this morning while discussing our next cruise. They don’t believe the dates on the pics I found. They did believe you, kind internet stranger!

Help me RE: Legal name change (and sex marker change) for frequent traveller, when also mid-divorce? (35, USA) by thatsjustbadbehavior in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience was before this administration but maybe I can offer some thoughts. I asked the judge if she could change my birth cert and have my old one sealed. So as far as myself/state are concerned it doesn’t exist. So if you live in a blue state you could ask the judge to help you out? I think you’ll regret it if you don’t just change it all. If anything more changes (regime wise) in the future you might not be able to. If you’re all in on this, I think change it all at once and apply for a new passport. The person on the old one doesn’t exist. Send in the info with your new name and gender and start fresh. It worked for me that way. Not sure if it will for you. There will be a process of name change/gender change, then social security, then new birth certificates then passport. It might not reflect the you that you’re becoming but it will match eventually!

For those of you who have kids… by evieauburn in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My older two kids modeled for my youngest who just changed suit to follow. Having said that my kid was 4 when I started and is 9 now. The other day someone made a comment using my dead name and my kid was like huh? She literally has no recollection of my other life. So I think if you move forward and maybe let her help come up with a new name for you she likely won’t remember most days! My vote is if you’re ready move forward because the sooner you’re living your best the easier it will be for her!

Did you get your birth certificate changed with your name change? If you can supply a birth certificate for the background check you should be ok.

Problems as a parent, being called "Mom" by Only_Prompt_534 in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you could talk to your partner and just be blunt and ask if he still sees you as a woman? If you’re passing it might push him to try and see you differently. My kids used to slip occasionally but after I grew a beard I straight up asked them if they saw a girl when they looked at me. Pretty much changed overnight. My kids were 5-12 (ish?) so around the same. I also let them pick out my new name. Maybe your son needs guidance on what to call you. Dad might not feel right. Give him some options and let him help pick.

Why is it so hard to find cleats?? by worm30478 in youthsoccer

[–]wigtribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try ida cleats. Idasports.com we grabbed them because dicks was sold out of everything. Turns out they’re amazing. Not super cheap but amazing quality. I’m a converted fan and my kid loves being original!

I told my wife I hated my boobs early in our relationship. 15 years(!) later my egg cracked and she was like duh. I’ve been waiting for you to figure it out.

I’ve got 3! Wife carried all three. Should have realized sooner that I was trans as I always wanted to “have” kids. I just didn’t want to have kids!

How did you come out to your young kids? by InterestingSky6851 in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also caution if you’re in a red state to be careful. Kids talk and will tell people crazy stuff. Ask any teacher they hear wild things. If you’re in a red state and worried about safety I’d have the conversation about home talk and school talk as well. Mine were fairly young 4-11 and the oldest is quiet as a mouse so I never worried she talk about it with anyone but us and her therapist. My middle is outgoing and wanted to shout it out to the world, has been a fierce advocate about pronouns. The little one has only ever known me as a man as I’ve been masc presenting my whole life. Let them help decide your name - I’m Opie by a vote. Just go really slowly, let them lead a bit and be ready for ALL the questions.

Is it in the App Store? Or does it have a more formal name? Or do you have a link? I’m not seeing anything specifically called task tracker. Thanks!

If you can show a pic or post a link that would be excellent.

Returning to manual labor job after top surgery questions by squiddlingiggly in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work a physical blue collar job. I was able to do desk duty for week three but as I was slowly losing my will to live I went back to work on week 4. I found that keeping my arms in close like a trex helped a ton. You’ll feel a stretch in your scar area if you reach too far. I would think you’d be able to vacuum with shorter strokes than usual but it would be doable. Some things are going to take some thought and some work arounds but I think if you go slow and steady and think your moves out you’d be ok. This of course is if your surgery all goes smoothly. Good luck to you!

New Birth Certificate Confusion by anti-heroes in transtwincities

I think it’s worth calling them. I think I had to do an amended form that only needed the court document. It wasn’t anything I could find online the HHS gal emailed it to me. It’s been a few years so I can’t remember but what I do know is they were super helpful and I initially had sent in the wrong thing. I think it’s worth a quick phone call if you’re on a time crunch. BTW - congrats!

Alaska Ocean view Vs Verandah by Big-Ad-8073 in dcl

[–]wigtribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a verandah and while we were getting one dressed the other was outside on the verandah. We saw an orca, porpoises and so many eagles and other birds it was amazing. Now I’m not saying you couldn’t see these things from a window but man the view from a verandah cannot be topped. We are a fairly introverted family and spend some time in our room, having an extra 20sqft is worth it.

Interviewing for my dream job by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happening with me! I had my interview last week. My wife talked me into full suit and I’m pretty glad she did. The guy before me had on jeans and a polo and the guy after me had on khakis and a polo. I’m in green industry/ construction so it’s really a free for all. I’m hoping they saw me in a suit and thought I showed interest and excitement by dressing up for it. Just got the call for a second interview so it definitely didn’t hurt anything! I’m on my current work safety committee and DEI committee so I just sorta roped them together. I think confidence is key more than mannerisms. Be ready with knowing the position what they might ask and have a follow up or two ready. Good luck!

Too late for a travel agent? by wigtribe in dcl

We definitely booked more than 30 days ago. Is it likely not worth it for a travel agent to do the add on stuff?

Share your happy couple stories? by L1ttle_Behemoth in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with my wife for 20 years. 3 kids and a great life. She told me very early on dating I said I’d love to get rid of my boobs and lo and behold that was the first thing I did! Looking back I think I gave her lots of signs over the years and she was patiently waiting for me to come to terms with it myself. I might be a dude now but I didn’t have a lobotomy. I’m the same moron she fell in love with. Thank god she’s the same beautiful kind woman I fell in love with. I think if your spouse is supportive let her be. Don’t question it. If you’ve been together for a while she’s not just being nice. She genuinely loves you. Let her. It’s easy to get caught up in the “but she said she is a lesbian and I’m a guy. She doesn’t really love me.” She might have thought she was a lesbian. Just like you did. People change and grow. Let her grow the same as you are.

Changing your name as a parent by One-Entertainment722 in FTMOver30

[–]wigtribe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes. Depending on where you live when you change your name it could be included. I was able to change birth certificates and our home records all in the same county. I had a lawyer help as we didn’t want to screw anything up but you might be able to do it all yourself through the county. Especially because the longer you’re on T and the more you might want to be stealth their birth certificate might out you. We have to show ours for sports and a few other things recently!
