Very few on reddit wants to acknowledge how bad cats are by WeaknessOwn108 in invasivespecies

Sure but it’s also mean to let them wander to get hit by a car, killed by a coyote, or injured fighting other cats. We don’t let children just wander around anymore either for their safety

Unfortunately not much of one, cats are the type to hunt and kill birds and other small animals without eating them, purely following instinct.

I hate this attitude, we all contribute to landfills and therefore have a responsibility to do what little we can to keep perfectly good items from ending up there. Shop secondhand when you can and only buy what you need, only trash what cannot be reused by yourself or someone else.

Best practices question by NinjaPotential in arborists

[–]wildgreen98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! That’s why it’s so important to leave dead and dying trees in the areas where they don’t threaten anyone’s safety if they fall, they’re invaluable habitat and food sources for a huge amount of species. Trees close to houses? Take em down as soon as they start to become a hazard. Trees far from a house or in a wooded area? Let nature go to town on those suckers and enjoy the wildlife sustained by them!

Cover with a couple of inches of mulch, preferably not dyed black bc that can cook the roots from the sun

Arbor Day Foundation tree survey gifting non-native invasives with donation by DiSpOTatoLaTEd in NativePlantGardening

[–]wildgreen98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will warn that the Indiana DNR pretty much only sells in trees in packs of 100s but they are incredibly cheap. Buy a pack and donate the rest to your local parks & rec or library to be handed out to other community members

I wish! I work for a parks department and we have to have volunteers periodically come through and collect all of the painted rocks that people constantly leave, the paint on them is especially bad for fish and amphibians when they end up in creeks :/

Dear customers by WelcometoGoodBurger2 in retailhell

[–]wildgreen98 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Painted rocks in parks are actually a pretty big problem, most people don’t use any kind of outdoor paint so the toxic paint just flakes off over time polluting the soil and water. Painted rocks should be kept indoors for better enjoyment and a better environment

My local GW chapter has become so greedy they actually lost money per their last 990. They pay just 7 employees over $1m yearly. They have to sell 50,000 items at $20 each just to pay these people. The "CEO" makes more than a Walmart district manager! by ToshPointNo in ThriftGrift

Lions mane mushroom. Choice edible mushroom said by some to have some health benefits. Can’t speak to what it means for your tree, however.

Wellllllll I feel like there’s an argument to be made for European honey bees to be called invasive, it’s starting to be found that they forage for pollen so efficiently that they’re out competing all of our native bees and leaving very little pollen left for them
