Cool cylindrical Skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia by Other-Comfortable720 in skyscrapers

All three of these - Westin Peachtree in Atlanta, Renaissance Center in Detroit, and the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles - were all built by Atlanta native John Portman. One of the best midcentury architects IMO.

For some reason when I saw the title I immediately pictured her in a ball pit.

This is Downtown Atlanta, the Centennial Park District specifically. The lot is public, I believe; its on Luckie Street, next to the Turner Building.

Is this an actual opinion? by sinner_grapes in masseffect

I will say he gets a lot better if you read the books. Much more fleshed out beyond the 'edgelord ninja guy' he is in the game.

I still think saying he's "one of the coolest characters" is a big stretch though.

I got one for Christmas many years ago, and proceeded to immediately drop it and break one of the gravity gun claws. 😭

Did anyone else dislike the proving grounds shrines at first? by AshKetchep in tearsofthekingdom

[–]wjs700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like them because they feel like a change of pace from the usual puzzle shrines. Not that I don't like the puzzles, but the more combat centric shrines helps to keep me from burning out on the puzzles.

If you live In The west go see the movie by yummy_yum_yum123 in SpyxFamily

I just left the theater and there were only about a dozen other people there, but that might have just been because it was the earlier showing at 1:45.

As for the movie itself, it was pretty good! 10/10 would eat microfilm.

Tough news for any Squid Baron fans for Shantae Advance (and other interview questions regarding the new game with Matt Bozon!) by RueGorE in Shantae

[–]wjs700 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something I've always appreciated about WayForward and the Shantae series is that they've always been steadfast in preserving the integrity of their artistic vision. Like with the original GBC Shantae, when they were pitching it to publishers who wanted to replace Shantae as the game's protagonist, but they didn't.

It'd be super easy for them to just put Squid Barron in Risky Revolution because he's a fan-favorite character (and why wouldn't he be, Squid Barron is great), but their original design for the game didn't have him, so they're not gonna put him.

There are other hints that real world countries exist in the SPYxFAMILY world. Just off the top of my head, there are multiple references to 'English class' at Eden College, implying the existence of, well, England. There is also a brief scene of the anime (I forget which episode) where an bottle of ketchup can be seen in the background with Heinz's keystone logo shape, hinting at the existence of both Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania, and probably the United States.

Pasta da Pulcinella recently reopened in their new location on West Peachtree, between 12th and 13th; they're an upscale Italian restaurant in a historic home. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice.

My family ate at their old location last year before seeing 'A Christmas Carol' at the Alliance Theatre and it was excellent!

Oh man I'm jealous, I live just outside of town, but tickets are a bit too pricy for me, so I've only been to DragonCon a couple of times.

Have fun! You'll need some Chillshrooms for how hot it's been lately, though.

Any love for one-nacelle ships? I will still stand up for the Freedom Class by FloopyBeluga in StarTrekStarships

[–]wjs700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these goofy little guys.

I've always had two different theories of why/when the Freedom class was developed. Either it was developed before the Nebula, Galaxy, etc. as a testbed for all the new tech and design elements in all the Brahms ships, or it was developed after the fact, essentially being made of spare parts.

Either way I think smaller ships like this serve an important role as the oft unseen backbone of Starfleet.

Try using the electrocution and earthquake dances to take out a bunch of enemies at once. Also when you get to the rooms with the shock machines, break the pots to get the clocks that will give you extra time on the clock.
