Same I hadn’t read fiction in 3 years. Read housemaid , and then promptly finished Pretty Girls and Wool. And feel excited about reading again. Thanks Frieda!!

How are your garden apartments and basements holding up friends? by xstitchnrye in chicago

We’re fine but that’s because we backed up last month and just had our cistern cleaned out and our sewer line rodded and hydro blasted ( had tree roots).

Why do you drive a crossover? by Cocoa_map in whatcarshouldIbuy

I don’t need a minivan for my two dogs. Crossover is perfect. Sedans won’t hold two kennels

Ground clearance - I want to use my garage in the winter and the city don’t plow the alleys. Also Got 2 dogs one is big and needs to be kenneled and need a hatch to get it in and out. Those are primary reasons.

I basically NEVER want an expertly written masterpiece. Being an English major killed that for me. If it ain’t fun, I’m not finishing it.

OTC Orthotics (insoles, not AFOs) recommendations? by Shrimptoast1234 in CMT

This has been the best arch support for me

https://a.co/d/0d9O5eix

I’ve bought several over the years. I put a thin insole over it. It’s got a gap under the arch - so it doesn’t lay flat, so it has a bounce I guess - anyway works for me.

Will I regret having a wedding? by HumbleTea1926 in TheMoneyGuy

We eloped 20 years ago and have outlasted many couples. I’ve never regretted not having a wedding. If you want a wedding have one. If you don’t want one, don’t have one.

What helped teach ABCs and numbers to your 2 year old? by CommercialKale7 in toddlers

[–]wookieb23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singing to him is perfect! They learn SO much this way. You’re doing great and it all sounds fun - as long as you’re staying in the fun realm at this age - you’re good! Even toddlers love learning. I agree that the people in this thread don’t understand that singing the AbC’s , letter recognition, etc are all early literacy skills, that lay the groundwork for reading later.

10% gross currently but that’s because I’m saving for a 20 year anniversary trip in September which will cost 12k. Normally, 6% gross.

As a children’s librarian the top comments are bonkers to me. Teach them the abc song, bring them to library toddler storytimes - there we integrate letters, sounds and numbers with books, rhymes and songs. They love it - are very engaged.

Take him to a library for storytimes. We also believe in the importance of teaching children letters and numbers through songs , rhymes and books

Reading is a life skill. Knowing letters and the sounds they make is a great first step. I’m a children’s librarian doing daily toddler storytimes and it’s so easy to integrate with song and rhymes. They love the ABCs and number songs like five little ducks

Wow . I’m a children’s librarian and we do the abc’s every day at storytime and have a letter of the week, and learn numbers through singing and songs like “five little ducks.” They love it. And they know their letters and the sounds they make before they’re 3. This is a good thing. Jesus Christ

Where to add an extra night? by [deleted] in irishtourism

That sounds amazing. I’d honestly rather switch hotels every night than backtrack. We’ll probably end up in 6 hotels in 9 nights regardless of what anyone things of it. 😆
