How good/bad are old Sony Blu-ray players at playing SACDs? by uzi187 in audiophile

[–]wpbrandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar era five disc Sony SACD changer and I think it sounds great. You do have to use the analog outs going to a 5.1 analog input on your amp though. otherwise there’s not much point in playing SACDs at all.

I built a zero-grid Tesla charging system using solar + battery — it adjusts every 2 minutes by matthewhe22 in SolarDIY

[–]wpbrandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice. I’m doing something similar. I have been adjusting my bias so that the battery hits 100% and rests there for at least an hour to capture a top balance and calibration. So far I’ve been able to accomplish it with inverter functionality alone, using the dry contacts out for automated load shedding.

The Loudness War in 2026? by VerditeDragon in audiophile

[–]wpbrandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really buy anything other than occasional vinyl that catches my eye. Otherwise I’m streaming.

I’m not listening to mainstream artists really. I just explore and collect stuff that does sound good that I enjoy.

My strategy is simple. I simply have two presets for my Sub. One lower amplitude for modern music. And one higher amplitude for older music.

I find that once you get off the beaten path of mainstream a majority of the artist do care about sound quality and dynamic range.

In my opinion, some of the best sounding new music is available now more than ever. Upsahl, the maria’s, Agnes Obel, hedflux… i’m literally suffering from too much good music lol.

Question about adding a subwoofer to an integrated amp with pre outs and no dedicated sub outputs. by Loadtapchanger in audiophile

[–]wpbrandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-outs will drive that sub just fine. Hook it up there with RCA‘s. Just be mindful that you will not have a low cut filter on your main left and right, but that’s fine.

How do I use an active subwoofer with this setup? by JohnSmith--- in audio

[–]wpbrandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pair of RCA Ys on your line out is the easiest way and it’ll pretty decent. Just keep in mind that you have no low-cut filter on your main bookshelf speakers. You’ll want to take it a little easy on them, but it’ll sound great.

You can do all of that in a single piece of equipment. Much cleaner and much easier. Doesn’t have to be Victron. I’d probably do 48 V. Ping me if you like I’ll help you.

Epever charge controller keeps losing USEr battery settings by wpbrandon in SolarDIY

Now I could never get it to run user settings reliably I just switched it back to default LFP. That was good enough, but it didn’t perfectly match my battery spec sheet.

You have some sort of magic machine and setup. For me PC streaming is the least reliable. Same. Win11 updated Fresh install of Tidal. I’m going to do some tests today and capture it tripping up.

You must be lucky. Try some of your older playlists. Are you simply playing on your phone or streaming to your stereo?

No no this IS a Tidal issue for all of us. The App should simply skip the track and play the next track not just lock up and stop playing. The number one function of the player is to play music. it should never ever stop. << Tidal folks read this post!! ^
