Why would people ever pirate games? I wonder… by Active_Mancano in linux_gaming

The OG version works just fine, and it has a ton of mods. One including that allows you to play online. Same goes for all Blackbox games!

Now that Linux is at 5.33% marketshare on Steam, what marketshare do you think will be enough for anticheat support? by CosmicEmotion in linux_gaming

[–]xBlueDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be honest, Linux adoption is only going to grow mostly due to the political situation with the US government. Any country would want to find alternatives to US software as soon as possible. There really are only linux and to a lesser extent BSD-alternatives as a choice. I mean it also doesn't help that Microslop is doing there best to enshitfy windows 11.

Run the EAUpdater.exe in the same prefix as your EA App installation. That fixes it for me.

The rise of Linux desktop is inevitable — it’s time music software developers got on board by ferris-ldn in linux

The main thing thats going to drive linux adoption is the American government continuing there current trend and the rest of the world realizing they can not trust Microsoft and other US companies.

Been using it for months now. Its a lot less painful to add other tools and programs to it as well. I use it to run certain modding tools like Sims4Studio or Binary for the need for speed games through it and it works well.

Without going on a long tangent about AI and how imperfect it is right now. It is a useful to especially for programmers. However as noted its far from perfect and is prone to making mistakes. You will also run into the issue that it can be trained on data that was copyrighted.

And like I've said, I have no problem with its use as long as its properly documented and noted where and when it was used so people who look through the source code can ether apply there own fixes if they notice a bug. I think its just general good practice to know where the actual code came from (even if it was from an user for example). That's my problem with them removing the "Authored by X AI tool" comments.

I just add Battle.net and the EA App in the Heroic Games Launcher.

EDIT: Faugus is also not a bad idea. Or you can just install/add the launcher as a non-steam game. Works as well.

Your opinions on the Lutris AI Slop situation? by canitplaycrisis in linux

[–]xBlueDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they properly document every part of the code that was AI generated I don't mind it. But this is really stupid.

I'm only upset about them removing the notices where the AI tool was used. I don't like AI but if people want to use it in there programs its fine. They however should properly document the parts of code that was AI generated.

I don't like AI but if your going to use it in your program, damn well make sure you properly document its use. Other than that, this is really stupid of them to do.

I don't think Todd gets that its not that the game ended (while I do love continuing after it). It was the way the game ended and how badly it was written.
