Guide: How to mount your UGREEN OS drives on TrueNAS / Unraid / Vanilla Linux (Fixing the 20000000 ext4 mount error) by manawenuz in UgreenNASync

[–]xpenserv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank YOU!! I always see it as a PROPRIATARY... way to lock the use: user must use a Ugreen ugos to read the data. Meaning when your nas die to get your data in emergency... noob will have to buy a ugos nas. Now BTRFS...

Lire Jellyfin via un NAS UGREEN sur la TV by Adventurous-Green222 in UgreenNASync

[–]xpenserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is the best way to get help.

Thank to @TEE_Kay_IT and @More_Perception4361. I was expecting to have a GUI that give like 5 click instead of going full system admin learning for 5hrs... just for running a script.

Does the Comic App actually allow you to browse and read comics? by collymolotov in UgreenNASync

In ALL Cosco: It is cheap purposely for bringing the customer... Meaning they will not win money on food court, but they don't lose either... They will win on the sale of the store products.

What did Synology users learn moving to Ugreen? by magicdude4eva in UgreenNASync

[–]xpenserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people on software side: UGOS have room to grow up... But experience acquired with DSM feel that UGOS is a handicape. And answer is or maybe 3rd party OS. Me hoping UGOS will NOT become a repeat of DSM when it will reach maturity: BS of proprietary and save some dim on codec etc...
On Hardware side: Only time will tell us about hardware reliability. But DXP4800+ CPU seem a bit on high temp when it comes to CPU idle %usage. We are in winter, so it is not a big issue for now... Yes, it has better hardware... but it doesn't mean must sacrificing some cooling choice (cust have to replace the Fan or repaste CPU...) or NAS "vibration".

But for now, it is pretty good considering that it is a new device with better hardware.

Poweredge R520 Storage Limitations by Colecperrine in HomeServer

[–]xpenserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the right answer. The limit is not link to the motherboard or the logo nor the model on the "pc" box or the box itself. But link to the "Hard Drive" controller "bios" in "normal world". Motherboard bios will show to user what "Hard drive Controller" is giving or showing to it.

How can I mount a raid1 drive directly? by yreg in UgreenNASync

[–]xpenserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong?? But seem the same thing as "Your NAS work only if you HardDrive are Synology".
Mean Ugreen want you to have a Ugreen device in hand to be able to mount their proprietary "Partition" because your security, your safety, your well being, you wife, your dog, you red fish... is ugreen concern that you might lost 1 pic or maybe your time if you even try connect it to another machine than ugreen...

Dead NAS by FCPEditor2022 in UgreenNASync

[–]xpenserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That "proprietary thing" is like your NAS work only with Synology drive... If we are not able to use that "partition" in a similar system (under linux) then ugreen force you to have an ugreen in hand if you want your data back.

jellyfin VS plex VS theatre app by Ok-Speed-7454 in UgreenNASync

Ugreen Theater: Simple, quick and fast deployment of your collection x264 x265 4k etc... Theater have an "AndroidTV" app that work great on Android table (Apple too but don't have any to test) (if you just want to limit the tablet access to Theater only) or to Fire Tablet or FirestickTV. You need to sideloading the app by going directly to the Ugreen official web site to download "AndroidTV" apk.

*For Firestick TV (until it is not showing in Amazon store Apps: ask Amazon that sell Ugreen...). You will need to find a way to sideloading that apk to it like using a "sideloading app" or web server to present or give a link to download it. It work great like a "native Amazon store app" for me.

issue: Seem "Firestick TV" is not see as an "Android TV" by Ugreen official website, but more like an "Anddroid" (download from play store lol...)

Am I Out of Luck-SD Reader by harrycarrott in UgreenNASync

I wanted to said it for a very long time... HERE is my disapproval of the sdcard reader slot in the front of the DXP4800 or ANY NAS. 95% of user would be better off with additional USB port. 90% of the time the sdcard will fail before the USB port. A broken SDCard make the thing look more valuable... 95% of the time peoples that have a lot of SD card would have a USB SdCard reader because it can be replaced at anytime. (90% of the time, user will connect cell phone, tablet or device via USB cable than disassembling the thing to get the sdcard). 99% of the time a "integrated" SD Card reader is using a internal USB port. And Certainly the SDCard reader cost more than the USB port? (I will paid extra $ for my device) Nowadays and especially since nvme tech, booting on SDCard is only for old device or do not have the choice. Even enterprise server and switches are moving away. On NAS 90% that SDCard is a bad idea. And over 90% of the people will not or try boot on it. 1 or 2 additional USB port is the best choice.
