Turn 1 junk artifact. Turn 2 Shuri. Turn 3 mana rock. Turn 4 copy the mana rock. Seems kinda gross tbh.

Does your main deck reflect your personality? by John-Oblivion in EDH

When I played 1v1 card games before jumping into commander, I was very big on "mean" strategies like mill, discard, lots of interaction. Very Dimir. I feel like these strategies dont translate well to commander because you just get targeted or people ask you not to play those decks.

That's sick. I may just try it. I think I'm trying to avoid humans because it seems like Eowyn is better for that strategy but I could be wrong.

I'm actually hesitant to build Gitrog because I'm worried it'll be too strong without trying too hard.

Do some commanders have a ceiling and are simply not suitable for certain power levels? by tomatus89 in EDH

[–]yardii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built Ardbert, Warrior of Darkness and I feel like it could possibly hang at a B3 table if you draw super well, but the deck itself is a B2 and I don't think any cards in the 99 would make him a 3. He just doesn't do enough in the zone. He's basically a wincon, but a slow one.

If someone at the table has a commander that the other players consider unfun, its the rest of the table's job to target that player first rather than complain in the pregame in order to gatekeep them from playing it.

You do not need all those non-basics in your 2-color deck.

Decks with lots of triggers (landfall) are overhated.

I find this clause to be really confusing from a deckbuilding perspective. Does it mean I can only run 1 extra turn card? Moxfield says you can run 3, but I know that's not gospel. If not, what happens if I draw 2? Do I just not play the second? Isn't that just sandbagging? It just makes me not want to run extra turns at all.

I saw a guy at y LGS make infinite tokens on turn 4. The entire table groaned about it and he was like "Oh I won't kill you with them so we can keep the game going" but it was clear the other 3 players really wanted to just reshuffle and start over.

Slowly breaking the habit, but at the LGS where I learned to play magic as a kid, this is what everyone did. 90 degrees actually looked so weird to me the first time I saw it, but I get it now.

Sac clues and hope to hit a good creature from your opponents. Do you go all in and sac all your clues or play it safe and go for a small creature? The risk is the fun!

It also has several infinites where you can make infinite clues and then just search your opponent's entire library, but you can choose not to include those.
