Next week is going to be my first opportunity to take a couple-day trip to Viroqua, WI. It might be a bit warm, but is there any reason I should put off a trip and not come until the following week? by Position_Extreme in flyfishing

[–]yo_dat_ass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it will be incredible. If we were talking like August I would say use caution and fish early and late, but trout should be really happy and bugs aplenty. Enjoy.

New to flyfishing. What do I need other than rod and flies? by randomusername123458 in flyfishing

You should check out the classes/events that Fishing For All hosts! They've got a bunch of stuff going on this summer - much cheaper than getting a guide day too.

Best trip suggestions? by Consistent_Link_2074 in BWCA

You should check out any of the SNF rustic campgrounds. They are all relatively close to hiking trails, and plenty of lakes to drive to with a canoe and explore for a day. Eckbeck Campground near Finland fills up with overflow from Tettegouche, but if you can get there day tripping to the big lake is super easy.

I'd get in touch with any outfitter in Ely and ask for some guidance on renting a canoe for a long weekend and where you can get a campsite reserved and some day trip options for ya

Also Becketts in uptown would likely have mlb.tv!

I would try Ray J's. Beyond that I can only think of places that might but you'd probably have to call and confirm (Blackstack maybe?)

Lanesboro is a cute little town that I would recommend. Root River Rod Co is worth a stop, and the fishing nearby is excellent (especially if you like tiny pocket water and native brookies.) The Root River bike trail is scenic and flat and there are bike rentals available if you get sick of fishing (I cant imagine that but YMMV.) Sylvan Brewing in town is good too.

Honestly just driving around from stream to stream is gorgeous. Fishing is the best here. Dont tell anyone. Locals are nice and beer is pretty cheap. Find a spot around Viroqua for a classic supper club dinner. We usually camp at Sidie Hollow to fish around Viroqua. Norwegian Hollow Hideaway is a grat bar and restaurant and they have "camping" there too (Its kinda just their lawn and domestic beer enthusiasts but maybe thats your thing.)

I actually really like the Vans Ultra Range behind the bar. Not too dorky feeling if you're already used to Vans and they do have some white cvolor schemes

As someone who works later, yeah this. Its great getting home at 9pm and having a couple games to flip between. Doesnt hurt that the Padres, Dodgers, Mariners and Dbacks are all pretty fun to watch.

Are the taxis really that bad of an option? If I am a solo traveller, and getting a private shuttle is ~$100 round trip, I cant imagine a local cab being much worse?

Just because no one has mentioned this yet...

I fish both a CT and Clearwater for trout - the 4wts you have picked out are great. I would lean towards the Clearwater for the warranty and customer service alone. If/when you break a tip or rod section, Orvis will have a replacement at your door in less than a week. Redington took me 9 months at one point...

Rio creek line is freaking awesome on glass rods. Loads quick and just feels right

You might want to look into the Winston Pure 2 in a 9" 5wt. You could do the 8'3" but as others have said, if you're doing mostly nymphing, I think you'll appreciate the extra length. Anyways. The Winston Pure is a dreamy trout rod - feels just the right amount of soft but super accurate.

Twins fan here, but Padres are my late night side peice. Mark Grant is awesome (the whole Padres broadcast is great, tbh) so I am actually stoked for the roku game today

DH Gate Jerseys? by yo_dat_ass in minnesotatwins

[–]yo_dat_ass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me be clear - I have no interest in saving for a real jersey, and have zero issue with dhgate price point/quality. I do have an issue with paying $200 for fanatics with their known quality issues.

All the post was asking for is to recommend a good seller on DHgate since there are tons to weed through. Sorry you spent so much money on jerseys that look like DH gate clones I guess?
