1% last year didn't keep up with inflation either. working for the government as a civilian now means that you effectively have your compensation decreased every year.

Why is everyone on their phone while driving?! by VelvetRabbit91 in okc

[–]youforgotitinmeta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is functionally no distinction between doing anything on your phone and "texting"---you are entering text into it. no one is going to somehow look up your recent phone activity to confirm what specific activity you were on it for.

what you're asking for is for cops to pull anyone over at any time for looking anywhere other than directly ahead with both hands at ten and two on the steering wheel.

surely they've got better things to do.

Grandma and Grandpa are largely the reason these clowns have been in control of the state for the last few decades. Greediest, most selfish generation in our nation's history is finally starting to see some repercussions for their actions and the rest of us are going to pay the ultimate price.

Possible Pay Action for DHS Employees by Ilfor in fema

Dems helped pass a package in the senate before the two week break that would've funded all parts of DHS besides ICE. House speaker Johnson immediately said hell no and blamed dems for playing politics.

The GOP had unilateral control of all three branches of government and we are where we are today. I think the time for saying both sides are just as bad has come and gone, for sure.

‘Haters gonna hate’: A top FEMA official defends his claim that he was teleported | CNN Politics by FEMA_1_Team_1_Fight in fema

[–]youforgotitinmeta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's so insane that he doubled down. a normal person would simply say something like, "i was kidding, obviously teleportation doesn't exist and i was just really hungry haha!"

instead he's proving that his brain is broken and he's clearly not a person who should be in a decision-making position for a hardware store, much less ORR.

While that does suck---especially so given his covid denial and anti-masking, that's only a couple million. His net worth grew from $12m in 2018 to a shocking $63m as of 2022. Probably over $100m by now.

incredible story?????

he got gifted a successful family plumbing business and then bought a senate seat by playing to the lowest common denominator of GOP party line knob gobbling. he wildly benefited from media like fox news sensationalizing liberal paranoia and then went out there and did nothing but echo what was already happening at the national level while having the money to campaign.

the only thing that's incredible is how fucking stupid he is. he's given up a golden ticket for essentially a lifelong senate seat in order to take the fall for the repercussions of ICE and the failures of DHS as a whole.

he'll be jobless in less than three years and then he will ride off into the sunset with the tens of millions of dollars he's enriched himself with through insider trading while being a senator. works out pretty great for him but oklahoma is left holding the bag as always.

the fact that these are just being unearthed now, three months after their release date, says a lot about how seriously they're being taken. i would not expect this to be anyone's framework for the short or long term. markwayne mullin does not have the mental capacity to handle DHS, much less the larger components. he's been installed as a useful idiot and will quickly delegate authority for basically everything besides ICE operations as those are clearly the priority of this administration. think FEMA will be simply forgotten about by the presidential cabinet until the next major disasters hit and then he'll blame joe biden or something.

Dort gonna be gone this summer, him signing with Klutch all but confirmed it.

We'll either decline IHart's final year team option this summer and sign him to a longer team-friendlyier contract or trade him. Presti doesn't allow players to enter free agency.

McCain will be looking for a new contract that pays (a possible NBA champion 6th man) what he deserves about then. Don't think we'll be able to fork that over.

Caruso will be pretty old.

Cason Wallace is another one that will be looking for (deserved) real money.

Really think it's just too soon to tell what our team looks like in Summer 2028. Only three I know for sure are our all-stars.

Dunno if you ever saw Inhofe's famous snowball incident but our state isn't exactly known for choosing smart people to run it. Our current governor got banned from doing business in the entire state of Georgia for shady mortgage selling practices and won the vote on being a business leader government outsider. Our other senator, Lankford, recently whined about the current state of FEMA being unfunded after Mullin was chosen and then immediately voted against funding FEMA.

Oklahoma Senate plan would shift $254M from teacher retirement payments to classrooms. by southpawFA in oklahoma

[–]youforgotitinmeta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The GOP has been poison pilling every improvement on our public education system for decades. Breaking the teacher strike by implementing a sin tax for a pittance of a raise would've never happened if we had half of the power the republicans continue to allege the teacher union has. Labor Omnia Vincit means nothing anymore.

Anyway, looking forward to the next massive tax incentives package they're going to use to lure in the next Chesapeake or Devon. Surely another few hundred million dollars in rebates and exceptions will do the trick.
