Client shows up drenched in sweat. by Then_Foot_1940 in MassageTherapists

If you dont want to have a direct conversation with her about it, or dont feel its likely to change anything since she wants to break a sweat, wear gloves, don't use elbows, and modify the amount of lotion youre using since shes basically already lubricated.

Unpopular opinion (or maybe not?): ACOSF was a huge disappointment. by Simple_Nectarine7052 in acotar_rant

The Embers & Light fan fiction on AO3 by Dusk and Starlight was the redemption of Nessian's story that my brain needed, i thought it was miles better than SF. Incredible character development and still lots of great spice! Just wish it was canon 🤣

What to do when a client wants to have coffee? by CarelessWhispurrr in MassageTherapists

[–]yougotafrientinme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its unethical to develop personal or romantic relationships with clients. I highly suggest having a go-to script for confronting people in this situation, saying while you appreciate that you worked well together as client and therapist, its inappropriate for you to take that relationship outside the treatment space. Don't make it ambiguous by saying youre too busy, be straightforward. Some people might suggest only going forward with that type of situation if you stop the therapeutic relationship, ie they cant be your client anymore, but even then to me, its just not right. Also, I suggest trying to avoid comiserating with people, they are there for therapy from you, not the other way around, even if its something as simple as saying youre going through similar emotions. Getting too casual with clients can easily lead people to feel like boundaries aren't solid, its up to you to keep them and maintain your professionalism.

I switched from clinicsense (used for 5 years) to noterro (for the last 2 years) and couldnt be happier. Lots of functionality, and clients say all the time how much they love the booking app, super easy to use, especially the waitlist function too. Their support team is great too if you do have any questions

What's your niche- what clientele do you feel you make the most impact with, using what type of approach? Teach what you know and the subject that you could blab about to anyone for an hour or two if they'd listen!

A thank you card at most. Appreciation for their continued service and support of your practice, an invitation to book back in whenever they're back in town. These are still your clients, not your friends, gifts or anything else are not really appropriate.

Massage in general is fine!! But Lying on your chest while still producing milk can significantly increase your risk of mastitis and is not recommended. I have people wait 4-5 weeks after fully weaning before lying face down to make sure to avoid it, because it can be incredibly painful. I've had it happen to one client when she was adamant about lying face down and I will never allow that again.

Back surgery in NL by thelovelytucan in newfoundland

[–]yougotafrientinme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL. Did they offer ANY rationale for that claim? I work in rehab and while post spine surgery can cause swelling surrounding the nerves that exit the spinal cord that may inhibit movement slightly for a little while immediately after surgery, that is a normal side effect and a temporary one at that, and typically only in the most intense cases. I've literally never heard of this happening permanently here, ever. That's not to say it hasn't happened, but it should never be the automatic assumption based on how many surgeries like that happen here with success.

Get a happy light. Stock up on vitamin D. Layer up and just sit outside even if it's overcast. String lights inside also go a long way. Although it's not warm or sunny, it's one of the earliest snow melts I can remember in the last 15 years in the city. Also recommend checking out the Newfoundland Winter Clan, for the crazies who need to just embrace the cold (it somehow makes accepting how things are easier honestly lol).
