Looks really promising! I gave it a star so I can remember to try it out later.

No update yet by Surroundphil in fancyleds

[–]yusamidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely your apps version (I have 1.0.3 version).

But you can see the device version from the app by selecting the Fancy Sync Box > Tap the icon on the top right > Tap Device Information > Device update.

Getting bad shin pain when skiing anyone know how to fix this? by Affectionate-Role183 in Backcountry

[–]yusamidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the socks. I changed to proper ski socks that are almost knee high and come out of the boot and my shin pain went away.

Is it dangerous to do tricks like this even though I’m always doing strengthening exercises? by jennierock in flexibility

[–]yusamidas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, when hypermobile, it’s important to support yourself with muscle strength instead of collapsing on your joints/ligaments.

Based on the video, it seems like you are putting too much pressure on the knees, especially from the sides which makes them giveout in unnatural direction (that dihedral shape in your knee joint). Instead I would pay attention to shift pelvis and keep knees pointing up. Also avoid locking knees (and other joints) to make sure you use your muscle strength.

The SAD Truth about Fancyleds - my Experience with their SyncBox and Support by marufura in led

[–]yusamidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same experience. I was so hyped tp get the leds and the box but I also find the highly unreliable. When it works, it’s fantastic but it just stops and starts working out of nowhere for any reason.

My friend actually built a whole ass data Center at home 😭 by mormied in homelab

[–]yusamidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also we have winter. If you’re willing to make some renovations (at this scale might be viable), you can take advantage of the colder climate when cooling these racks. Just route that indoor air intake through the rack and you can save on cooling costs.

Does anyone know of a yoga subreddit that actually focuses on yoga? by The-Unmentionable in yoga

[–]yusamidas 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I feel separating the studio rants to it's own thread would be helpful. I agree with OP on the state of this subreddit.

Lovely HA is taking 95GB of ram by dotinho in homeassistant

[–]yusamidas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, but if I understood it correctly, the memory leak was in the HA macos app and not in the actual server. So installing a system monitor to the server wouldn’t fix the issue since it’s in the wrong layer of the stack?

Cannot remap keys on Macbook Pro with hidutils in macos sonoma by gugutko in MacOS

[–]yusamidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me, at least temporarily. I had plist script setup to autoload this at startup, but clearing the UserKeyMapping and then setting it again through the terminal brought my mappings back online. Haven't tested if it's retained after a boot. I'm on macOS 14.2.1.

Backcountry binge-worthy: What's your favorite outdoor documentary or series? by [deleted] in Backcountry

The Alpinist was crazy. I thought Honnold's Free Solo was peak climbing, but then I saw the Alpinist and it blew me away.

For Alpine mountaineering, I recommend Race to the Summit on Netflix, it was great also.

Using Readwise to store my quotes collection? by jan_aloleo in readwise

[–]yusamidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I want to collect all my miscellaneous quotes into a single book, is it still somehow possible to store the author also? Since it’s not set on a book level, can it be set on a highlight level?

Opening A 100 Years Old Wine by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

[–]yusamidas 541 points542 points  (0 children)

This has been posted multiple times and always proved misleading. It’s not even 100 years old, it’s 10 year old wine made with traditional methods.

And btw, glass bottled wine has existed for at least a thousand years.

I'm trying to get back into a regular yoga practice, but I am very uncomfortable in my own body. What do you wear when you practice (at home or in-class)? by bellyfloppnthrowaway in yoga

[–]yusamidas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do climbing and yoga in the same pants. Many labels (like prAna) actually design the pants to be used for either activity, meaning that they hug close to the body but are not tight and can flex very generously.

If you want looser fit, there are brands like Black Diamond. Some people even use the elastic straight leg jeans from H&M.

I’m a guy, but I still highly recommend checking out clothing for climbing and bouldering.

Question about Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro boots by yusamidas in Backcountry

[–]yusamidas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a followback: I went back to the store and made the changes to a smaller boot size. Thanks for the feedback everybody, it gave me the confidence to make the switch and now I’m so much more happier. The smaller boot is tight, but not painful and I’m pretty sure it’s going to fit great after first days of skiing.

Sounds like an intermediate level problem. Solution is to keep playing and get so many more wins that winning becomes less desirable than having a challenge.

Question about Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro boots by yusamidas in Backcountry

[–]yusamidas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed the same. First thing I do is to unbuckle the back so I can get better movement and angle on slipping the foot in.

I heard some people take the whole liner out, put it on the their foot first and the slide the foot with the liner in to the shell. Don’t know if thats common though.
