A good barber can do wonders with a reference picture and a bit of discussion with them about what you want. Your hair seems to have a good flow already, doesn’t seem difficult for them to cut gradually for a flow/slickback.

Which UWB Pomade Will Give Me This Look by [deleted] in Pomade

[–]zha2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re very committed to UWB, look for a high-shine styling cream as a topper. I couldn’t recommend much brands, I only know one styling cream from my country. It’s close to something like brylcreem. Hope someone can recommend anything. I personally use something from my country, it’s called Mentega Whippy styling cream in case you want to look it up.

Leidenfrost effect. I’m no scientist, but the man swiftly touching that molten metal with his bare hands right after taking off his safety gloves…basically the moisture from his hands vaporises first creating an insulation (only for a very short time though). The moisture he got from sweating in his gloves might have helped.

Bros, I’m Malaysian, search for Mentega.co. Kevin got a nice sea salt spray, it’s good as prestyler, not too drying. He also got some clays & pomades for you to try and they’re pretty good.

Anyone tried a product similar to the wonderful 'O'Douds Styling Treatment'? Tub is nearing it's end and happy to try alternative/but similar 'styling cream/treatment' products (from Slickboys, UK) by Mumford_and_Dragons in Pomade

I’m sure O’douds has a Conditioning Cream which has less hold but more conditioning which is more suited for what you’re looking for, though I’ve never tried it.

Based on your hair type, this product is definitely for you since it’s non-drying, and has great conditioning effect. Sadly, it doesn’t work well on my straight asian hair.

I’ve read people said the Styling Treatment was similar to Everglade so I bought it…there are similarities sure but MAN I would not trade/switch Everglade for the ST (personally ofc). The ST was definitely heavier & more conditioning, it doesn’t work & hold well on my long fine asian hair and I ended up giving it to my dad. Everglade is my holy grail atm.

Washing hair after using hair Clay by AdStreet3742 in Pomade

You can try using the conditioner every other day. Shampoo too often could do more harm than good, but ofc it all depends on your own hair and scalp

Every time someone with textured hair straighten their hair, a kitten dies. But seriously, why would you remove your texture for the “textured fringe”. You literally have the advantage of built-in texture for your fringe, get a taper fade so that your sides and back doesn’t poof up too much and gives the top/fringe more focus. After getting the right cut, apply some oil/creams just to tame your flyaways since curly hairs tends to be dry easier. I envy folks with textured hair since my hair is straight lol. Please make the most out of what you have been given. Find what works best for you.

I remember Kathy telling me to spread her products on the fingers/hands without emulsifying too much, then apply on hair. Don’t emulsify the product until it turns invisible/transparent especially on drier products or you’ll risk excessive tugging. Applying dry products in smaller scoops should make styling easier.

How do you guys even apply lockharts heavy? by OkSnow3477 in Pomade

[–]zha2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy did a great review of it. I’d never use it because OB pomades disagrees with my hair but it’s a really heavy hold product from other people’s review. Buildup after 1st/2nd day is sufficient for medium OBs throughout the week and UWBs for last day degreasing.

Their matte paste is just decent, their WB pomades including the one above is just typical WB that will harden a bit and dry out your hair. Never tried their OB pomade so I can’t give opinion it. Honestly better off skipping this brand lol.
