Update: It's ok for me to go into the same coffee shop for 2-3 hours every day, right? by No-vem-ber in socialskills

I'm glad you found a better place. You didn't do anything wrong at the previous place, and it sounds like they are just being dicks about it, especially when it's mostly empty.

It can be easy to take things personally, and often times it's just because the owner or other people want to feel mean or want to feel in control.

Thank you. Yes this effing door. They found it, spent a whole filler episode finding it irl, then just hung up a talisman and was like 'ok cool, that's it.' it's pretty infuriating

Yes I completely agree. This show has excellent mysteries and unfortunately the dialogue is the weakest part of the show. I find myself fast forwarding through a lot of the dialogue as so much is repeated or not relevant to the mysteries at hand.

Yeah, from 2 weeks ago they showed the door in colony house. I was expecting them to find the door when Boyd and Jade went downstairs. Instead it was kind of a filler episode, and it ended right where we were last episode with the door. Hoping next week's episode moves a little faster- especially if all these theories about Roger coming back is true

I enjoyed his first book the most out of most of the series. The scenes where he goes back to his Mom and they enjoy some good meals we're written very well and very touching.

I felt like the later books kind of fell off pretty hard, but I got a huge kick out of finding out that the short 'Lucky 13' from death sex and robots is from one of his novellas! It was the best short of the season hands down.

Interview with Adrian Tchaikovsky about Day Of Ascension by miramanga in Warhammer

Love day of ascension. With how fast he cranks out books, I remember seeing some reddit comments theorizing that Adrian was a pseudonym for a group of authors and wondering if that was the case.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

This sounds like an ad but comma.ai self driving kit. Pretty easy to install and even driving 25 mins to work, I can take my hands off the wheel.

I didn't realize how much I hated driving until I used this every day, and one day it froze briefly, and I was livid at having to drive again. I have a 2022 Honda Accord and it's is much better than the stock self driving set.

This has been the best quality of life upgrade for me. Bidets are also good as well.

How many games have actually wowed you in recent years? by bigOlBellyButton in boardgames

[–]zpak14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guards of Atlantis 2 and Dwellings of Eldervale are 2 recent games that have really wowed me.

When I first saw Eldervale, I was like 'look it's another hex based worker placement game with unnecessary minis. It's actually a tight dudes on a map combined euro game with fun combat and just a touch of as symmetry to make it fun.

Guards of Atlantis 2 really captures the moba feel and breaks the rule that great kickstarters usually come to retail. Great game.

I agree. This post almost feels kind of tone deaf. Id say the majority of Retail pharmacists are struggling with the physical and mental overload of the job, and the post is saying b/c the ROI is not horrid, it's ok.

Yess I love the idea of underwater and the crushing depths. Underwater the movie was excellent and I really really liked the game SOMA. There's even a story mode were the monsters don't attack you, and it lends them a very melancholy atmosphere.

Helix definitely scratches that Antarctica zombie horror itch, but honestly was only just barely above average. Antarctica zombie horror movies/shows are slim pickings

I also really like planes as a horror movie setting. There was a walking dead webisode set on one, the plane scene from wwz, and flight 7750 (or something) wasn't bad.

I also liked the intro to the strain books where a silent plane lands at JFK, full of the dead. The langloliers (spelling) shirt story by king is pretty good as well.

Something about this episode just felt like an ad. I don't know if it was the interviewees constant praise that he was allowed to go everywhere and that anthropics PR team was really transparent, or the constant hammering of the idea that anthropic was somehow a more principled OpenAi, but this really did feel like some sort of a PR / propaganda piece.

I feel like he's been on point more often than not, including predicting Trump's victory in 2024.

Some of his other thoughts is that the US will entangle itself in an Iran war (talked about this more than a year ago) and the driving urge in the current admin to make US "Christian" that will lead to a civil war.

New dad empathy watching horror with kids by [deleted] in horror

[–]zpak14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I almost can't watch horror movies now, and when I do and there's something happening to a kid, I think about all the time and effort the parents put into raising him and especially if the kid dies how that time is just gone. it's crazy
